Aodhán A. Steamlink, the name is courtesy of the "Your Steampunk Name (in anagram)" thread.
I have never really developed a persona before, so in the spirit of always learning, I decided to create one as I would have been in a different world, though maybe that is the point of a persona. I am not sure.

I am a bit of a rascal, a scoundrel. A person impersonating a villain, only slightly less clichéd, slightly less cold-hearted, and far more humorous. Well spoken, well dressed, because who doesn't like a handsome dashing villain? Add into the mix that I am an appreciator of the arts, am a hobbyist writer, and an avid reader... well, who can say what that mix creates?

Hello, Brass Goggles, and may you long enjoy yourselves! (Under my reign. Villains must always have a dastardly scheme.)

Welcome Aodahn! If you resided in the vicinity of Sacramento, I'd say you should join the Sacramento League of Proper Villains. It's just the place for such a character!

Colorado sadly. I will be in San Diego, California sometime in the next few months for basic training. Mayhaps if I have some spare time somewhere in there I will come see how your plans stack up as compared to mine. Wink

Hello, Lord Cosworth. A mad scientist always needs a mad villain with a mad, mad plan to watch over them. What say you to joining my group?

Octavius von Gilgamesh is not so much a persona as a way of life.

Rufus Knox. No particular reason why, I suppose. I was actually brainstorming name ideas for Guild Wars 2 at the time, came up with this, and thought "hm, that sounds like it'd fit a steampunk-esque engineer".

Dorian Von Glass here. Dorian because of my love for Oscar Wilde and the fabulously sinful Dorian Gray. Von Glass came about while working on my first ladies fascinator (thinking cap). I knew i wanted to use flowers in the design, and i've long been a fan of resin/epoxy coating, so i figured id try to coat the flowers in a quick dry epoxy. and voila! Glass flowers became Von Glass.

Demetrius Rust. The main character in a steampunk tale that is growing in my skull. He is an inventor, adventurer, and general trouble-magnet. In short, my alter ego.

Phineas Griswold, agent of Pinkerton National Detective Agencies paranormal investigations division. Got a poltergeist shaking your home? A vampire sleeping in your basement? Or perhaps something with tentacles in the local cave? Never fear, Phineas is here!

Oscar Wilde is awesome.

Archibald Philander McRowan III. I've always liked Archibald, maybe due to the Sherlock Holmes story called "The red-headed League". Philander I picked on the Internet while looking for a name for a character. And McRowan... Well, I adore Rowan Atkinson's christian name  Grin

And the Third, because I like families where people give their own name to their children.

TL;DR:My name was originally meant for a steampunk DnD character, after months of not finding any good names for him I literally just woke up one morning with my name, the DnD character eventually emerging as my own steampunk persona.

I got into steampunk long before I actually was able to make up my name,  for two years I basically just appreciated it as an art style before I got really into DM-ing, after I'd been leading a DnD group (modified 4e for those who're interested) for about a year I started creating a steampunk-based gameworld in my head, and it was about a year after that even that I began making my persona.  At the time I was just making a character, but somehow I could never name him, I suppose because my subconscious mind knew it was supposed to be me.  For months after I had the idea for the character I had to just tell people that he didn't have a name, many people suggested them to me but I none really felt right until one day I literally just woke up with the name William Croshaw in my head.  To this day I have no idea where I got it, but ever since I had the idea its fit like a glove and I've never wanted to change it.

Been toying with the name Valerius Vespasian Anaximander recently. Valerius was a surname in ancient Rome (well, a gens, but close enough), the Valeria family having produced more philosophers, politicians and other great names than any other family. Anaximander was a Greek philosopher, and often said to have performed the first scientific experiments. Vespasian was a Roman emperor famed for being blunt and down to earth, an old soldier who was popular with the people.

Mine came out of the Brass Goggles name generator.  I was looking for the name of a main character on some stories I was working on, was assigned this one, and liked it enough to use.

The name came from some literature I was creating ideas for.

Captain Sebastian Dante, Scourge of the Three Skies, Gentleman of Renown, Commander of the Empire's Wrath, finest ship in Her Majesty's Specialist AirCorps.

It's just the sort of identification that can be added too and changed as time goes on. Since then it has followed through the various incarnations of design and image from various fields of Steampunk and even occasionally crossing into Industrial Cyberpunk as interests flow and diversify.

Beatrix Ida Lowenwide

I began with the fact that one of my family was named Beatrix Ida although she went by a short form and then researched the meaning of my surname Low and/or Wide.  The persona is developing along with my interests e.g. doing art when my health permits.

Beatrix Ida Lowenwide
The Artist/Inventor daughter of an Experimental Engineer and a lady Doctor of Medicine, both now deceased.
Her monograph Images Of Things Partly Seen has caused interest in both scientific and artistic circles.

Azure Sterling, reporting!

I had used a variety of handles throughout the intertubes and my favorites contain "blue" as a first name. Azure is the next logical step.
Sterling is the last name of an author of whom I am most fond.

I am a Cartographer and aspiring Botanist, one who remains truly neutral on all counts; both Commanders of the Empire and Pirates of the Air require a map and map-reader to get to where they're going.

Silas Donovan Locke! An awkward young fellow who has a need to tinker with anything he can take apart and loves reading books, when he can get a hold of them. He's not exactly a genius, but he isn't dumb, either.

I won't be using first person when talking about Silas until I have all the details together (and I have my attire!).

If it were allowed it would read Loki's tyro. Tyro is a fancy word for student. Loki, to some, was Norse God. Basically it's a name that I would like to imply that I am learning from a mischievous trickster. I do not always try to be a trouble-maker but it seems to be in my nature.

I would have liked to have been either a Clara or a Rose. Then someone pointed out to me I'd subconsciously filtered the names of the Doctor's companions.

Cawthorn is a family name. My father is a chemist, and I see Clara Rose Cawthorn as a suppressed botanical poisoner

Whistle was chosen originally, since human names just do not seem fitting for a robot in the least, at least not to myself.
However, Lark was tacked on because of the mention of Lark Hill in V for Vendetta, to make it easier to claim usernames on other websites, and because I was disgruntled that the song 'Whistle' by Flo Rida comes up at the top of a Google search for Whistle, and I simply cannot stand that song or the artist's sense of 'good music,'
