Good price, I have something similar but it cost considerably more than that.

Good price, but...... how much was shipping?

That's something to pay attention to. Lots of times the starting price will be very low with the shipping to make up the difference. So the .01 purchase may turn out to be 20-30£ with shipping!

Assuming at that price it was from Hong Kong or China or somewhere similar, you were very lucky this time. It is possible to be but I certainly wouldn't bank on it happening every time (and sadly once they get you they seem to remember as well). Let's just say this one obviously slipped under the customs radar.

Actually thinking about it, in this case there's nothing customs could have charged you for. I believe goods from outside Europe under the value of around £6 (can't exactly remember but it's something like that) are exempt. The annoying thing is, they will include shipping costs in the total value, and if you're so much as a penny over you can get hit. But in this case, as the item actually cost an unbelievable penny and the shipping was indeed free, they would have no legal excuse to add surcharges.

Not sure -- it started with no reserve or value - I poked it for £1.00 maximum bid -- no one else bid so it stayed at £0.01 and I thought, there's no way they'll send it... they'll claim it got lost in the post or something daft...then after weeks going by it shows up  Roll Eyes

Now they want feedback...the cheek of it ....good feedback too...

... I think I'll complain about the weeks of anguish and despair, waiting after paying through the nose  Cheesy
