Rather looking forward to the Dino hunt.  First outing for my Norfolk jacket.

Persons intending to travel by open carriage should select a seat with their backs to the engine, by which means they will avoid the ashes emitted therefrom, that in travelling generally, but particularly through the tunnels, prove a great annoyance; the carriage farthest from the engine will in consequence be found the most desirable.

Not so helmet (it would play hell with the hair style...) but binoculars, magnifying glass, microscope and other assorted sciency bits are ready to go. Also, I'll be using my bustle bag, which as can be seen here

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

is made from real dino-hyde... ahem  Roll Eyes

Yours,
Miranda.

Edit: We now have the spotter's guide to take along:

The cards insode aren't Victorian, but they do date from the 1970s:

Hmmn, which do you suppose have the tenderest and least fatty meat, herbivores or carnivores?  (I'm supposed to be on a high-protein diet and reduce my fat intake, you see).

Absolutely brilliant day - was heartened to see so many of us turn out for the Dinosaurs! 55 people from the Midlands, Leicester, Manchester and South Wales! And all of them had a blast! I think we brought a smile to the faces many of the other visitors, too.  Grin

Yeah, but the dinosaurs got to hunt us instead.  Some of us, at least.  A certain someone is typing this with only one arm.

Hear hear! It was a wonderful day, with even the weather playing along. You clearfly have the knack for divining the best dates for outings - we will have to consult you before booking our next summer holiday  Wink

That is rather inconvenient... but as time travellers, maybe some regeneration energy can be put to good use to replace the said limb?

Yours,
Miranda.

P.S. A few people mentioned at the weekend about adding 'friends' in facebook. Now, I don't quite know what I'm doing there (actually I don't quite know what I'm doing at any point in time...), so I'm pressing what I think are the right fb buttons, but probably should apologise in advance if I'm clogging up people's in-boxes, or whatever it's called on fb.

I thought I'd record this here, being rather less ephemeral than Facebook. It seems that the good people of Sarehole Mill would be OK with us coming along to their Victorian Day (next year, as the one for this year was yesterday) in out full regalia (or at least I'm inferring this as, after making this suggestion over on Facebook, it received a 'Like' from 'Sarehole Mill' and the original poster on Facebook seemed to think it would be fine too). So, a possible WMSA trip next year?

Yours,
Miranda.

Felicitations, fellow West-Midlanders!

So, what've we got planned for the next couple of months?  Anything?

It's the annual picnic this coming Saturday, I believe - I'm looking forward to that! After that, I think there's a picnic a Wightwick Manor on the 2nd September? (Not sure if I'll be able to make that, I'm afraid - the Asylum being the weekend before I'll either be exhausted or suffering from an acute lack of fundulation).

After that, however, I'm not too sure?

I have to say that was a marvellous outing yesterday.  (Do it again in, oh, about a fortnight, say at Wightwick Manor?)

I'll gladly second that! We had a brilliant time. I'm not certain if we'll be able to make Wightwick, depending on post-Asylum fatigue, but looking forard to seeing everyone again soon. Smiley

You were missed sir

I've really not had a good month at all, for reasons other than being without the jalopy.  Basically, I had plans for every weekend, bar one, in September, and every one I have had to cancel.

Anyhow;

Worcester Christmas Market is the first weekend in December. (30 November - 3 December).  What would people want to do?- we have, previously, done a Saturday afternoon, Saturday afternoon & Saturday night, and a Sunday afternoon/ evening.  So if we can decide whether we want just a day's outing or more of a weekend thing we can start to book trains, hotels and time off work a little ways in advance.
