Scrambled egg and sheep brains.... get a bucket quick!

I'd be up for a posh picnic (imagining it to be something like an al-fresco dinner party).

Persons intending to travel by open carriage should select a seat with their backs to the engine, by which means they will avoid the ashes emitted therefrom, that in travelling generally, but particularly through the tunnels, prove a great annoyance; the carriage farthest from the engine will in consequence be found the most desirable.

I quite like the idea of brains and eggs. I would try it.

As mentioned over on the BCLM thread, they've recently sent out an e-mail listing the year's events through to October. I was wondering if anyone here fancied a little Dieselpunk diversion to their 1940s weekend? There's quite a lot on for these, plenty of space for a picnic within earshot of the '40s style singers and if you have an 'Unchained' pass you can get into the daytime bits for free. Anyone interested?

Yours,
Miranda.

I've been to a couple of teh 1930's weekend events, and in my opionion, they;re rather fabulous.  There was an  anique clothing market at one of teh stops, as I recall, too! Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to get along to anything that costs much for the forseeable future, but I do urge those that haven't  experienced the 1940's weekend to give it a go!

On another subject, could someone please remind me when the next pub meet-up is?

This weekend is in July, so it's not quite so immediate. They do indeed have a vintage market, and plenty of displays and enthusiasts to talk about them, both on the military and civilian side. It should be noted that the event is home front and allied troops only, so there are no attendees in axis uniforms strutting around.

Yours,
Miranda.

It is with great sadness that I announce today we lost a member of our steampunk community, Jason Pearson, a member of the West Midlands Steampunk Assembly. Our thoughts and love go out to his wife Jody at this time and forever

Birmingham Botanical Gardens are hosting the 'Jurassic Kingdom' between May and June this year, complete with animatronic dinosaurs. So naturally, we're going on Safari.

Details still to be confirmed, but here's the link to the Facebook event - https://www.facebook.com/events/209554462864621/

Pith Helmets and Elephant Guns at the ready, folks!

Indeed, I didn't specify what I had in mind to feed the dear wee dinos, now did I?  I think I've worked out the perrfect outfit for the event, too!

Exceptionally late notice but there's a pre-1940 car meet in Lichfield tomorrow (April 30) if anyone is interested?  (I literally only now found out about it).  Postcode WS13 8EJ, the Rugeley side of Lichfield.

Apologies for prolonged aethernet absence - although I do use other means of communication... As it was relatively nearby, I did pop over to Sandbach yesterday and thus had the pleasure of meeting some fellow travellers.

As ever the challenge is always finding events that don't clash with me having to be elsehwere, usually with violoncello or one of Prof. Sax's fiendish ligno-aeolian contraptions.

I shall endeavour to attend something imminently!

Well, absolute imminent is the Stourport Steampunk & Vintage Market next Sunday, quite imminent is Red by Night at the Black Country Living Museum the Saturday evening of the following weekend and fairly imminent is the dinosaur hunt at Birmingham Botanical Gardens on the 3rd of June. It's going to be  busy month  Cheesy.

Yours,
Miranda.

By the way a reminder for the Black Country Living Museum's Red By Night event. The tickets must be paid for in advance. if you turn up on the day there is no guarantee that they'll let you in and if they do you'll have to wait till everyone has walked in which could take an hour at least
