Steamcraft 2 is the second iteration of Proloe's Steamcraft mod, which was discontinued back in Minecraft B1.8.1. Other than the name, and a few of the original Steamcraft features/ideas, the mod has an entirely new take on all things steampunk. Its aim is to extend Minecraft by adding post-apocalyptic, retro-futuristic blocks/items for your (and our) enjoyment.

Mod: http://minecraft.curseforge.com/mc-mods/224017-steamcraft-2-beta-2-fluxian-storm

Installation:
1. Install a correct version of Forge (http://files.minecraftforge.net)
2. Pop the mod's jar (not forgetting Boilerplate!) into the mods directory in your minecraft directory.
3. Huh
4. Profit!

(And bug reports. Ok, mostly bug reports)
Think you have found a bug? Head on over to our github, and use it's issues page (Here, have a link: https://github.com/B...amCraft2/issues). Create a new issue, with a descriptive title and if possible steps to reproduce in the description. Don't forget to tag it as bug. If it causes a crash, tag it with critical too.

In a similar vein, suggesting features is also handled through the github issues page. This time, tag the issue as feature, if it is something entirely new, or enhancement if it is a new feature for an old one.Want to go one better? Submit a pull request to the repository, with your bugfixes/new features, and we will look it over, request any changes that are necessary, if any, and accept it at our discretion.

This is a section for listing the features added for inter-mod compatibility. Firstly, everything that needs to be is ore-dictionary registered, and so should help with compatibility.

Sorry, but dimensions and mobs are a bit beyond my currently fairly simple coding skills  Sad

New mobs are my favourite, but you might make life MUCH easier for yourself by tapping into the steam fluid dictionary entry, and the same for metals. Airships would win you infinite kudos though Cheesy

I have just registered my ores/metal blocks/ingots into OreDictionary actually. Talking of airships, I am actually pretty bad at building, so if anyone want's to donate built airships for me to generate into the world, go ahead!
In the meantime, have a WIP screenshot:

Also if you have any idea for mods and want to have a bash, go for it Smiley I currently can't think of any! Cheesy *fail longeye*
~Longeye~

I'm not sure how hard it would be to do, but ever since I started on here I've wanted a turret mounted death ray to put on my castle.

As for airships, I'm not particularly good at building either..... Though there are some fantastically talented builders on the server..... Maybe they can lend a hand?

Airship contest maybe?

Yes, yes please!

EDIT2: Can anyone think of a proper steampunky way of making alloys, other than simply crafting the two ingots together?

As for airship contest; yes Cheesy I'll be happy to have that run!

As for alloys, maybe go with just crafting unless TC is installed? Then disable the crafting recipe and force alloying?

Well, i'd like to see a lightning rod styled block, that could be used to fuse metals together, or run extremely high energy circuitry.

Ooh, a lighting rod sounds cool! I will see what I can do. There is something very steamy about thinking, "Oooh, a storm is coming. Quickly!! Setup my lightning rod and alloy some metals!

If I might be presumptuous, instead of "detect when hit by lightning" maybe during a storm have it initiate the lightning at random intervals. I remember there was a lightning rod mod AGES ago, but it was useless because nothing ever hit it. But I do love the idea of a lightning rod to galvanise metals Smiley

Ok, seems like a plan. Not right now, as I should probably sleep, but I am ready to put out a Brass Goggles only pre-alpha, so could you use your moderator powers to make a separate topic containing my op, and the other posts with regard to my mod. Then, tomorrow sometime, I shall create a proper post, and post a download  Cheesy

And, first alpha out! I don't recommend playing it in survival, as while obtaining everything in survival is possible (the ores do spawn etc) I will probably change some item/block ids around between now and a proper release

I'll hit it up and report any bugs, but no offence I'll not include it on the server JUST yet Wink
Good work getting it out already, do the goggles have a planned use or are they just for the best fashion statement around?

You can't include it on the server yet, its for 1.6, so none taken  Wink
The goggles may have a use, but for now, they just give you a cool HUD overlay (that took some doing! Quite complicated really). I will find a use for them in the future, I am sure. Perhaps I can make it so at really high altitudes (100+) and if you have a view of the sky, e.g. not inside, then you take damage unless you are wearing a respirator and goggles, to protect from the high wind and lack of oxygen. Plus, you can't fly an airship without goggles, that goes against the Laws of Steampunk  Cool

The airship goes without saying, what sort of cad would try to pilot a ship without his goggles?! I like the idea about the height limit, but I'd set it to maybe 175, or even 200. With biomes o' plenty there are a few biomes that are about the hundred limit but are just "big hills". Mountains and such are usually over 150, so that might be a good starting point.

This might be a little beyond your knowledge, and FAR beyond mine, but you MIGHT be able to include it such that if you're surrounded by walls you don't take the exposure damage?

Ok, I shall set it to 150, when I get to coding that. I know for certain I can check if the player is exposed to the sky (hasn't got a roof over him/her) but I would have to look into wall detection.

EDIT: Status update - I have the lightning rod working to the point where it randomly summons lightning if it begins thundering. Can't do anything with the lightning yet though!

Throws mobs around, like an iron golem, although it will have less health, and at the minute it attacks the player, although I will change that. It also won't attack zombies, because it was made from their flesh!
