Well arse of all arses. If you go "options" and "force update" it'll revert. However to correct it I may need to sacrifice a goat or something. I'll let you know....

Okay, so the server has settled in (mostly), and I think it's time to look at starting up a communal build! What say you all?

My ideas for a good place to start would be "something that benefits everyone", like a communal power station everyone can tap into, an infinite supply of basic materials (cobble, oak, smooth stone?) or perhaps something completely different! Suggestions? Smiley

Well, we've had Warehouse 13 in THE PAST, so i'd like to put my vote down for a power station.
(plus, it'd help me understand how to build one Tongue)

...However, might I suggest we steam/dieselpunk it up somehow? With airships, or clockworkery perhaps.

Powerplant seems to be popular, but I certainly agree with Pea. Either have it IN an airship maybe? Or at least have steampunkery going on. We can also use things like turbines and frames to add moving elements to make it look cool.

I vote power station also, but I cant connect to the server, as it is saying the error mentioned above about advanced solar helmets. Could you tell me the ids for the three items show above, so I can manually edit my config?

You can revert to standard config until it's fixed.

I have no opinion. I shall build my world piercing tower, one story at a time. From bedrock to the sky. Then I'll add portals to all the standard worlds.

I have marked out a possible construction site, you can get there via one of the spawn portals.

Personally, I despise giant scars on the landscape to "mark out" projects, i'll build elsewhere...

As I said before: REVERT TO THE STANDARD CONFIG FILE. Force update FTB Ultimate, that should do it.

If, in the ftb console, you select "options" and then "force update" that'll do it for now. Do we have any thoughts on a style then? Maybe certain types of building to be included?

There is a way to make steam boilers and such. Maybe a way to go?

I'm thinking a huge Victorian factory looking building, and on the inside, is rows of steam boilers and whatnot.

If your looking for renewable power you can opt for walnut farms and biogas engines.
walnut trees - walnuts - squeezer - seed oil - biogas engines- power.
would require no input from players, once its built, and would happily chug away on its own.

I'm still stuck in the portal to the mining world, could we break it temporarily? I can't actually connect because of it.  Cry

Who built the Asian pagoda? Is there anything underneath?

I decided I might as well make the chore of mining serve a double purpose, so I am tunneling from my base to spawn. Not sure why, but it seemed a good idea at the time. Anyhow.. I'll be passing underneath the Pagoda at level 50 if that's ok. From there on, it'll pass in front of the Bigass Castle and I'll surface it close to Uglyass Spawnhouse..

Spawn house is dreadful, isn't it? Tongue

I still need to get round to moving it into the marble well!! It'll happen, promise Wink

Also Pea built the pagoda.... apparently it's full of brains, in typical Pea fasion.

So this communal build, what'll we go for? We can use solar panels and at LEAST one turbine to crank out blulectricity and I'd like a system whereby you can put a battery OR battery box into an ender chest and a few seconds later it'll come back fully charged.... I'm not sure if we have steam turbines as part of this build for IC, but if not we can set up some ultimate solar panels to do that. As for MJ steam boilers are probably the best idea, and the tree farm sounds like the best plan. That way we can probably also set up a "free logs" chest that can be filled.

As for style, why not make the whole damn thing a big airship? Smiley

By the way: What happened to your infinite lava well, Longeye? Could that be incorporated into that system, something that gives infinite lava? Possibly linked to an age that is nothing but lava, never visited, only pumped out of?

Winning! It gets my vote.
And the lava idea sounds intriguing

P.S. There's nothing under the pagoda, feel free to dig away there Akumabito Tongue

The lava well originally drew from the nether, but it lasted a lot less than I thought it would when we drained a huge spot. It can be done, and it can move, but that would be a right bugger to set up. To stop my own fail messing up people who drew from my well I was using lava fabricators and ultimate panels to make the lava, that could work if we were to set a load of them up.... I'd have to look into how quickly it can make the lava though.
