Should we laugh at the Archeologist for having what is presumably a Sonic Trowel?

As an archaeologist, I, personally, would just love a sonic trowel!

If I was designing Twelve a new sonic, though, I'd slim it down. Something like Nine's sonic, but in goldtone with a green light to match his ring.

Ooh, I like that idea.

I wonder whether he might end up with this one:

Just watched the final episode of the series. I quite enjoyed it, and it kept you guessing, but did leave a few unanswered questions. Though perhaps best left unanswered for now.

I quite liked the ending, and the possibilities that brings...  Grin

Really spoilery - do not read if you intend to watch the final episode!

Well, it looks like the sonic screwdriver is back. But far from being slimmed down, the new version looks very bulky.
After watching the end of the last episode frame by frame, my opinion is that it looks more like a sonic egg whisk.

AUGGGGGGGGGGH!!!!

My idiot automated cable TV DVR cut off the last part of the finale.

I hate my cable service right now.

Darn BBC America, they've done it again.  They misaligned the broadcast.

It was bad enough in the Amy Pond years that one season when BBC America gave the US that sappy Amy-narrating her fairytale life with the Amazing Adventures of Amy Pond (and oh by the way her magical time-travelling buddy) for every.  single.  episode.  opening credits.

It was bad enough when BBC America cut out vital scenes from American broadcasts to make more room for commercials.

This -- this -- this takes the biscuit!

I am not at all happy with BBC America this morning.

Thanks to my DVR's terrible timing, I am left at a gut-wrenching  loss-filled moment.

I look forward to seeing the end of the finale one of these days.  I hear it got better.

Mr Addams, it is bulkier than I'd have liked, but I'm okay with it. I didn't think the sonic sunglasses would last very long, anyway. Now, can we please just get rid of the psychic paper for good?

Goodness Sad You have my sympathies.

Personally I can recommend amazon streaming, IIRC it costs $15-20 for all of season 9, and I believe you can buy individual episodes for $2-3 dollars. It doesn't require a prime or monthly subscription. You can watch episodes as many times as you want and can download them to a tablet/phone if your internet connection doesn't play well with streaming. (Downsides: It isn't exactly easy to get set up to download onto a mobile device, but it can be done and once setup seems to work just fine. Amazon also doesn't support downloads to PC/mac anymore, and there doesn't seem to be a good workaround for this.)

The Time Lords, a species whose existence is based on time travel, have prophesies that are so vague as to be useless. As they can travel to the future (even the diner at the end of the universe) to check the details, why are they asking the Doctor for info?

I'm intrigued to see what the people who design the cheaper sonic screwdriver toys will make of the sequential spinning light effect.

The Time Lords, a species whose existence is based on time travel, have prophesies that are so vague as to be useless. As they can travel to the future (even the diner at the end of the universe) to check the details, why are they asking the Doctor for info?

They don't get out much? I was reading something about this not too long ago that said if matrix prophesies were viewed too much detail it would cause that specific possibility timeline to collapse and the information would become useless.

Also, the prophesy was about Gallifrey itself and the planet doesn't seem to have a normal relationship with linear time like every other planet in the universe. Good luck figuring out how that works Roll Eyes

Also (lore question), can all Gallifreyans regenerate, or is this a special privilege granted to those accepted into the Academy?

If River Song and Jenny are any indication, it's genetic and present in anyone with Gallifreyan DNA.
