I guess I have a 'distributed' chatelaine along the length of a chain belt:

On the left is my belt bag, next along fob watch, next compass and masquerade charm (seemed appropriate...) and finally my illuminated compact. Other things can be added as needed - crossbow, silver spikes for when vampire hunting, etc.

Yours,
Miranda.

nice.  I'm guessing the illuminated compact is on the right (your left).  Is that a findable/buyable part?  I think that's a cool concept in and of itself.

I also like the belt purse.  That's darn near the size of my wife's glasses case (I tell you, it's huge).

I'm still planning the idea out.  I've got a small backlog:
friend's arm bracer double-barreled shotgun (almost done)
detailing art for steampunked mini-notepad cover
leatherizing plastic SP goggles
Chatelaine for the Missus

Thank you. Yes, the left/right is as you see it in the picture rather than for the wearer. Unfortunately the illuminated compact was one I made myself - details, if they are of any use, are here http://brassgoggles.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,43842.msg933770.html#msg933770. The bag started its existence as a jewellery box - I just stripped out the padding for holding rings etc. and added a couple of small hook and eyes on either side to help ensure it stayed closed (the original magnetic clasp was a bit weak).

Yours,
Miranda.

I have a compact that used to be illuminated (corrosion done it in).  It's clearly a manufactured item, probably from the '80s or '90s.

You could probably add rings to a leather or cloth (canvas) belt, and hang your chatchkas as Miranda does on the chain.
A purse or watch case could be permanently attached on such a belt.

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.
Oh, that's really quite well done, miss Miranda.
Brava!

There are lighted compacts for sale on e-bay. So they still make them.
