No idea if I'm allowed/meant to post this here, but I'm looking for an artist/illustrator with a bit of spare time who'd be interested in doing a few steampunk/clockpunk type illustrations for some RPG rules I'm writing. I can't really offer financial incentives of any sort since I don't have a budget for this and I'm not going to be making money out of it, but if anyone would be at all interested please PM or post or whatever...

I always enjoy seeing the art posted in this thread. Madscott, I really like your style. And CaptainPhania, I'm jealous of your ability to draw such, well... wrinkly wrinkles in fabric. Drawing realistic clothes is my achilles' heel.

I have a copy of Firearms Curiousa, a publisized collection of a retired U.S. Army officer from the 1930s. I may find a bit of inspiration there.

Hi Guys n Gals - New to Steampunk. Have known about if for ages, but now I'm really in to it! Got my copy of Steamboy and LXG for a week on Wednesday - Off work so steampunk day me thinks! ha ha. Your art work is amazing. I know where to come to if I need any SP images creating! My offering is not really art (Well I think it is) - Its a grab of my linux desktop - All steampunked! - Wood, brass an all. I really enjoyed compiling all the elements (discovered some wicked SP pages in the process) Mike. http://www.flickr.com/photos/28061826@N04/4752457725/#

Alright, finally got around to drawing some Steampunk art Drawn as part of my current experimentations in creating more energy and movement in my art in preparation for starting work on a comic of some form.

Didn't want to put this in the pin up thread and I obviously didn't draw it myself..but someone mentioned 'airship nose cone' art and so for a laugh I took one of Alberto Vargas' pin ups and steamed her a little bit with the paintbox function.

I've been looking for new avenues to display my work... I look forward to any feedback. I do a wide variety of both 2D and 3D work, but I still consider myself a piker by some standards. The following is posted with apologies to M. Gustave Caillebotte. This is effectively a photo-manipulation of his work Paris Street, Rainy Day, from 1877. More to follow...

More of my comic experiment stuff. This is Maxwell, a butler robot with a very odd malfunction, He wants to take over the world, but unlike other megalomaniac robots, he wants to do it by asking nicely. Although not specifically steampunk in technology (he is in fact an advanced service android) the character himself has embraced the aesthetic. The comic that I am making won't be steampunk, it is about a girl and her robotic butler who travel the world stopping other megalomaniac robots with malfunctions of world domination.

These pieces were designed as iPhone/iPod touch wallpaper (320 x 480 pixels). They are photo-illustrations composited from no fewer than six different images, as well as some electronic illustration. Whether your device is jail-broken, or you are using iOS4, you are invited to download, use or freely distribute them. Let me know how you like them; I have a number of others, and would welcome suggestions for other steam-ish device wallpapers.
Both of your works are excellent Elihu, very well done indeed. markf

Thanks for the supportive comments, Markf. I visited your own site, and I admire your iPhone case quite a bit, sir. You've given me some ideas. For you and anyone else, here are two more iPhone/iPod wallpapers I worked up. The on the right is what I am using as my own home screen wallpaper.

I just remembered I had this — it's a project from one of my software classes a few semesters ago. The specifications were that it had to be a 2-sided brochure with text and images, with some number of folds, on any subject. Most people chose subjects like sight-seeing in New York City, or their cousin's uncle's brother-in-law's restaurant, etc. I chose an 8-page parallel fold advertising Trans-Atlantic Sky Transit aboard the Hindenburg Luxury Airship. (Note that this is the imposition, so that each panel will be in the correct place when it is printed and folded — the second panel in the image would be the front cover of the closed brochure, the first panel is the back cover, and all others are inside pages. I apologize if that's confusing. ) ( View Large)

Thanks - I always struggled with drapery and fabric dynamics, but looking at how different materials react helps. I look at a lot of fashion plates and costumes in online museums (the Hermitage is quite useful) to get an idea of how it should look stationary, and costume dramas for how it looks in more natural poses. Then when I draw, I divide the fabric according to how I know it should react from what I've seen, and then just keep adding more and more lines until it starts looking realistic. The more time I spend, the flouncier a skirt will look. You'll know really quickly when you're doing it right And I'm really bad at explaining things... Miss Cordelia Ambrose - your brochure makes me want to book a ticket! "Adventure, excitement, grandeur"...yeah, I'd risk it for that I just finished this drawing off today: Can be seen bigger here

This one is from a series of steampunky portraits I made. I call this one Professor and Mrs. Franklin T. Krakenbush. This is a composite, photo-illustration made from at least nine different sources, as well as hand-illustration and photoshop effects.
