The cover illustration for Celebrated Speculative Fiction Author, Cherie Priest's new novella, "Clementine" (book now available now for pre-order through Amazon and through Subterranean Press). The book cover is still being worked on by their graphic artists, applying text and their other graphic design magick. These are images of the original painting done for the book cover.

Well it's not steampunk at all, but I've recently been using Adobe Illustrator. I thought I'd share one of my first vector pieces I did the other day. It's our city's tower and one of the c-trains. All I have to say is, vectors are hard!

heh. I have four engravings done for a regular buyer, and 4 digital paintings done for an author I can't mention yet that I am sitting on until I am done with this grueling work week. I'll probably be dropping a few more here shortly Smiley

All of these airships and vectors and people shaking their fists at departing vessels are making me want to digitally paint an airship battle... Maybe something resembling one of the oldmasters' sailing warship battle paintings about the Anglo-Dutch wars, with ships in battle lines (I'm probably biting off more'n I can chew, but hey Tongue)

Great job with it! Vectors are a trick to get used to, but worth it in the end. Nothing like spending ages on that detail in a space the size of a computer screen, then trotting off and having the thing printed three feet long and two feet high, and crystal clear!

Three more images from this set on Macmillan's page for "The Dream of Perpetual Motion"

You need to scroll down, and right click>view image on my pictures to see the images uncrunched (they've been shrunk down by html tags to fit the page). On the look: My original submissions were sort of on the dark and creepy side I guess (those are the ones I'll eventually have on my site). These, however, are 3+ revisions of "cutesy and kid-friendly" and (hopefully) just what they needed... though my cute edits seem a bit less realistic than my originals. Anyway... go?

Here is the link: The Dream of Perpetual Motion (remember to scroll down and do the right click-view image thing, else you won't get a good view)

After a couple of years of doing random doodles for a steampunk RP, I decided in the New Year that I'd do a little more with it, and have started a series of (hopefully) mildly amusing cartoons on the pitfalls of ordinary daily life in a steampunk world. Each one must take no longer than four hours at absolute maximum from the moment pencil hits paper to upload.

These are great! Interesting to see what other artworks people make besides the Steampunk ones. I love the "this is not a crowbar" picture by Smagger. I found that one real funny. Grin
