Several years ago, I chances upon a web site that claimed that I Tom Swift period film was in pre-production in the 1960's. The web site claimed that tests model shots were filmed, and the web site had what it claimed was a still of a model shot of Tom Swift's airship.

I found a mention of the airship on Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Swift#Film_and_television

Wikipedia says that a half-million dollar airship prop was built, and was sold to an amusement park.

Does anyone have a photo of the airship?

Found one:

It seems that it was actually a full-size prop, and not a model after all.

And it still exists:

Slightly OT, but I found (probably) the entire Tom Swift series at Bookyards as ebooks (probably pdf, tho) last night.

I might have a better photo in a book.

I'll try to scan it if I do, but it probably won't be for a couple of days.

Tom Swift and his Photo Telephone (1914)
Came across a good copy that was about to get thrown away. An airship crashes on Tom's roof, interrupting his tinkering around with a new invention - the photo telephone....
I'm posting from mine now, 98 years later.

Has anyone heard any news on the production (or lack thereof) of the new Tom Swift movie? I was rooting against the proposed "green energy" film in pre-production a few years ago, but if the movie is going forward with a better concept, I'd like to know.
