Been listening a lot to Blackbeard's Tea Party and enjoyed a couple of their high energy gigs. This song is about pirates!

https://youtu.be/oFHOfdFw0VI

They also perform the rather steampunky "Steam Arm Man" (really!)

I'm listening to a noise generator....I should be studying and noise sometimes helps.
because the bagpipe generator wasn't working today I put on this one...and it sort of helps. (except that I'm posting about it on BG and not actually studying)

Shame it's so short and has advertising covering half of it; it looks/sounds rather good otherwise.

I do my fair share of Nipponese media scouting, but to be honest, I can't say that I'm enthralled by the music /video itself. After Googling a bit, that seems (pardon me if I'm wrong) to be the opening title of a new Anime (Jan 2016) based on the 2011 Manga called "Dimension W," whose episodes I have not read either... Now I'm a bit intrigued. The animation style reminds me of Cowboy Bebop - for those of you old/appreciative enough to know what that was, if it's along those lines it might be another good one to watch...

EDIT:

As suspected, it's loosely similar in style to Cowboy Bebop - and broadcast in Cartoon Network's Adult Swim

Here's the anime opening that the song comes from. Apparently that's all there is to the tune; even the "extended" version is just this over and over several times. Great tune, though.

It's actually pretty good, though a bit cutesy with the little girl (teen?) robot thing going on, but that's anime all over these days, apparently. The guy in the red coat looks like The guy from Bebop (Spike), and the voice is similar, but not the same. I think most of Bebop's English language voice actors are either dead, retired, or doing other things these days.

Not spectacular, but above average for what it is, meaning a 12-ep anime of a cult fave manga.

I still think Cowboy Bebop is on another entirely different league.  Pains me to think that  I'm so old that the voice actors for CB are already dead  Shocked  Undecided

The girl reminds me a bit of the Super Sonico bubble headed character Soni Ani.

But the plot becomes more interesting as you move forward.  The simplistic analysis of "an extra dimension",  which I dismissed at first, turns into an argument on Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle (without mentioning that explicitly) being the source of sentience and a fundamental property of life.  The argument allows the author to explain away things such as ghosts which he loosely correlates to echoes from parallel universes.

Walking on a rainy afternoon while listening to Herbie Hancock's tribute to George Gershwin, the American classical and popular music composer (from the Album "Gershwin's World, 1998).

George Gershwin spanned both the Classical and the Jazz genres.

The album includes performances by famous jazz and popular artists including Joni Mitchell, Chick Corea, Stevie Wonder, Wayne Shorter, and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. The repertoire encompasses Jazz music from various historical periods, and has some fascinating African rhythms as well. Music by classical composers like Ravel is included as well in a contemporary 20th. C. re-interpretation, as Gershwin did.

Herbie Hancock - Lullaby

It Ain't Necessarily So - Herbie Hancock - (Gershwin's World)

Blueberry Rhyme

Summertime - Joni Mitchell & Herbie Hancock

Then going home and finishing the whole album plus some live concert takes of the same material in the album...

Herbie Hancock- Concerto for Piano and Orchestra In G

and closing with Gershwin's classical piece "Rhapsody in Blue (not in the album)"

Herbie Hancock - Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue

If you like Jazz at all, this album is a must have. It should practically be required material in American music history courses.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gershwin's_World

Many moons ago, I used to listen to this album while driving my grandfather in his 2002 Ford Thunderbird (which was fast as hell and had a killer stereo), when we went out for Chinese "brunch" (i.e. late breakfast or lunch-breakfast for non-gringos)...

The car was identical to the pictures below:

I miss that car, and I miss my grandfather...

Jeezzus, O my sweet Lord! I was browsing through the Internet because someone told me that the nightclub "The Elephant Room," our local Jazz joint downtown had been closed.  Like the idiot I am, I didn't even bother to stop by 3rd St. during the SXSW festival because I undertood it had been closed...

Well to make a long story short, not only is the Jazz club open, but sometime next week they are featuring Sarah Arenella, a local Austin-based female singer - who I must say is knock-your-socks fantastic at classical jazz vocals, especially if you're old/knowledgeable enough to remember the voice of Astrud Gilberto in the Cool Jazz albums by Stan Getz in the early 1960s.

This voice is nothing but incredible. I can't believe that we have talent like this yet not discovered by the world at large:

Reverbnation page with built-in music player:

Listen to Song # 2 "Love, You Didn't Do Right By Me," and compare her voice to Astrud Gilberto

Sarah Arenella:
https://www.reverbnation.com/saraharenella/songs

Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/saraharenellamusic

The last time I saw a local be this good at Jazz, it was Nora Jones

Now compare to Astrud Gilberto with Stan Getz + Joao Gilberto, in their classical Bossa Nova album (1963):

Whole Album: Stan Getz & Joao Gilberto - Getz/Gilberto (1963)

A TV show video from the period:

Astrud Gilberto & Stan Getz: The Girl From Ipanema- 1964

Interesting project - Narimono Theophanes (Нейромонах Феофан).

Musical project from St. Petersburg, performing music in the style of drum'n'bass. The team is popular on the Internet and has acquired the status of Internet meme. The band members remain anonymous.

Performances Pyromania Theophanes stylized Russian folk festivities with extras, dressed in sandals, take these, shirts and tunics. Lyrics of Theophanes is replete with outdated Slavonic and Russian words, and the vocals full of the characteristic town of ocaña. Their songs Narimono takes the singsong voice and in the music of the balalaika are combined with drum n bass Bazovyi.
