Spring. And maybe some new knees.

Would you settle for spring loaded knees?
Surely they would need to be steam powered, with fully articulated movement, and a pair of high powered lasers concealed in a cunning pocket just beneath the skin.

We have the technology, we can, nay must, rebuild him!!!!!!

It is almost correct, a few mods here and there, but I would not be displeased to find this under the tannenbaum -

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Of note:
  • I like the brass bell on the roof over the driver
  • I applaud the addition of the cow pusher for a front bumper, but some of these Connecticut cows may require a more beefy version. (yeah, intended)
  • Lastly, I would need a large, steam driven horn to indicate that ramming speed has been achieved

It was parked outside my place of employ, I thought some of the chaps here had a collection for me. I almost boarded at the invitation of the driver, but then a walrus-mustachioed fellow in a peculiar pressure suit turned to me and exclaimed in a low, gravelly voice "Its a Trap!". I ran back into the building, past the conniving schemers. Ah yes, I foiled them again. One less place setting at the retirement home for now. . .   HAHA!

Cheers - g

You should visit Neuschwanstein Castle , I wouldn't say it was steampunk but it has the advantage that the most amazingly odd stuff is in there as original features like swan taps and a ceiling with light up stars.  It's in fairly good as opposed to decrepit condition and it was used as the castle in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.  Read up on it and Mad King Ludwig of Bavaria for whom it was built.  I'm sure you'll have fun.

Closer to home, there's Casa Loma in Toronto, which was built in the Gothic style sometime around 1910 by Sir Henry Pellatt. It's now owned by the city (I think) and is open to the public. They have a web site if you want more info.

I`d want a traditional Japanese house in Kyoto, preferably near Arashiyama (seriously, look Arashiyama up on Google images. I used to live close to that! Only half an hour by bus! We went barbequeing there all the time in summer). And then I`d have the house upgraded to have all these sneaky steampunk contraptions (or basically ninja contraptions with steampunk influences).

I also want proper video recording and editing equipment (the whole bunch: camera, lightscreen, microphone, actual proper editing software, a good computer to process everything, preferably several screens so I can do other things while my video is rendering - and because it just looks cool). And clothes, I want the clothes I like, and I want a library, and the time and skills to make the videos I want to make and the time to read the books I want to read, without having to worry about paying food and rent.

But mostly I want the house in Kyoto.

You just uttered the magic words. Alas, words which so elude me in my adult life.  The house I had in Mexico City was just that (sans the computer/audio/video equipment).

http://brassgoggles.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,37460.msg809383.html#msg809383

But I was too young to understand how much I would lose when my grandparents sold that house.  If I had one wish to be granted this Christmas would be to go back in time 26 years to stop the sale of this house (sorry - I'm sentimental and lonely this Christmas Eve).

That is a true thought.  We had a 1926 Mission style Spanish Californian house when I was a child and I would love to go back in time and stop them from selling it!  If you move a great deal, there's always one house that seems like home more than the others.

Still waiting for those spring-loaded, laser knees.

Join the queue, I'm still waiting for the fat g*t to bring me the train set I wanted when I was five.

Although these days I'd settle for a bottle of gin and a selection of gift cards from model rail emporiums.

A fainting couch with deep green velvet.

Enough pure black silk and and lace to make a big fluffy nightgown like crimson peak and a chemise a la reine dress.

A camera tripod that can make sure I am in the proper spot before taking a shot.

A never ending bread maker that always has warm loves in it so my boyfriend can't eat all the bread.

Let's see..

A job offer in a high paying job

A hot girlfriend - or at least a woman who would love someone as unusual as me - hotness optional

My childhood home.

At the moment, I want the stupid cedar trees in Austin to stop producing allergens in this ridiculously warm 22 C Christmas, because I'm dying from my allergy.

That about covers it all, but if someone can extend my life by a couple of decades, I wouldn't say no to that either.  Maybe some time travel back to the 1990s, that would be OK for me.

It's also a key thing in Kirsten Bakis' 'Lives of the Monster Dogs', a fabulous book that I'll now need to dig out and read again.

For Christmas, in addition to a substantial amount of hard currency, I would very much like a dash of motivation, a medium-large sized mountain of discipline and several crates of focus.

So many projects I really want to get done, but I spend so much time faffing between the ideas stages that I never seem to complete a single thing. This must stop. Please, send discipline.
