Oh, that's pretty.  It would fit in my steampunk cottage quite well.  Now, where did I put that lottery ticket???

Ok, I found it.  I found the thing I want most of all: The Genuine Gerstner Oak Tool Chest.

Look at both pictures.  It closes up and looks absolutely beautiful.

Oh, the Steampunk vehicle -- the submarine/airship/landyacht that can go anywhere, with gothic windows and stained glass clerestories and brass and wood and gold-striped enamel, and pennants fluttering!

In stock from the maker, it seems, no need to go through Hammacher.  Too expensive even if it was in stock.

Beautiful piece, too.  I may have to get one for my truck.

Are we asking for things that actually exist, or anything we can think of?
Because if I could ask for anything, it would be a time machine!
As far as stuff that is actually physically possible (at this time), it would have to be a large house on a decent amount of land up in the mountains somewhere far enough away to be isolated, but close enough to be able to go to town for work every day.

•   A decrepit old gothic castle in Central Europe, but upgraded with steampunkish/ dieselpunkish technologies.
•   An airborne aircraft carrier zeppelin similar to the USS Akron or USS Macon and a collection of vintage military aircraft to keep in the internal hanger.
•   A collection of classic cars.
•   A collection of antique weapons (mostly WW1-WWII era).
•   An entire closet full of steampunk clothes for every possible occasion.
•   The ability to win friends and influence people.

As always I'm going to say a library and thus a home big enough to accomodate one.

Second, and slightly more realistic choice? The ability to organise myself to finish all of the projects I start! This is only slightly more realistic because I am the most disorganised person I've ever met. I think I'd need a personal secretary or possibly an invention that would allow me to do without sleep (or any other way of adding about 5 hours to every day). I'm thinking that Hermoine's time-turner might work well for this.

I have an original handset - not so much brass, but obviously real - that I had disassembled and was working on making such.  Now that it is available ready made and cookie cutter... not so much interest.  I will put it together eventually, but it was quite a knock to see it like that.

I've got the working phone that goes with that handset.  It is a 1980's reproduction of a 1960's phone that for all I know is a reproduction of an earlier era.  Shame that it is in cream plastic though.  I'd much prefer this version but in wood and brass.

Lets see.

A lathe.

A storage cabinet with every sized brass nail and screw imaginable.

A 3-figure gift card from Michael's.

And a nice pair of Victorian trousers to go with my shirt and waistcoat.
