The Brass Goggles League of Nations could do with a few more members. Currently, there are only five players in the region. I am looking for more active players to start a RP game. I;ll set up a forum, make a world map, etc. We can exercise diplomacy, trade missions, even warfare. If you used to have a nation some time ago, dust it off and move it to our region! If you're new to the game, register, move your nation to our region and I'll help you get started!

The game: http://www.nationstates.net
The region: http://www.nationstates.net/region=brass_goggles_league_of_nations
For detailed information about your nation, use the Absolution NSTracker: http://tracker.conquestofabsolution.com/

Hope to see you there!

I'm already there, and I agree we could use a few more people.

In case your wondering, my nation is called "The Holy Empire of The High Tatras", after the High Tatras in Slovakia. It is supposed to be a dieselpunk Central or Eastern European country in an alternate timeline where the Central Powers won the Great War of 1914-1918, forcing humiliating terms of defeat on the Allies. As a result, there are now fascist dictatorships in Britain and France. Also, Kaiser Wilhelm in Germany has died and his sucessor is somewhat more liberal. He has allowed the SPD (social democratic party of Germany) to take power in the Reichstag, angering many conservative junker aristocrats who consider him to be a traitor. The Soviet Union does exist, the current Premier is Leon Trotsky. The Soviet Union has a very uneasy alliance with Germany, one that seems likely to shatter at any moment. Meanwhile, Austria-Hungary has been forced to grant independence to several of its territories in Eastern Europe due to increasing political unrest in the region. One of the new countries is the High Tatras, which takes up most of the territory of IRL Slovakia.

The tech level of the universe I created is supposed to be somewhat similar to Crimson Skies, as is the aesthetic. Crimson Skies is probably my favorite video game universe, although I very much prefer the PC version over the xbox version. I copied a lot of the technologies found in Crimson Skies when I visualized what my universe would look like. If anyone would like to role play in this universe, feel free.

By the way, my universe is not supposed to be plausible, either historically or technologically. If its fun and it looks good, it should work. Also, the present is some time in the late 1930s.

I just created my nations. Its the Shamanocracy of Mexchanitl, a little sample of my inner universe.

Think of it as the steampunk victorianised love child of druidic England, shamanic Scandinavia,Pre-European North America and the world of Shadowrun.

The word pagan came from paganus , who mean peasant . Its was a way to significate than christianism was the religion of the elite and paganism the one of the savage worker class.

''Trickster shows us how we trick OURSELVES. Her rampant curiosity backfires, but, then, something NEW is discovered (though usually not what She expected)! This is where creativity comes from—experiment, do something different, maybe even something forbidden, and voila! A breakthrough occurs! Ha! Ha! We are released! The world is created anew! Do something backwards, break your own traditions, the barrier breaks; destroy the world as you know it, let the new in.''

Just created a nation and moved it to the Brass goggles League of Nations.

San Royale is more or less based on an idea I've lightly roleplayed on the general forum and played with in minecraft, to the effect that I rule a small island in the Caribbean populated by hapless villagers, outcast mad scientists, and airship pirates. Set in the Girl Genius Universe with a dash of pirates-of-the-Caribbean-with-airships.

Never played Nationstates before, so I'm still figuring out how it works...

I'll try making one in the morning.

"Once upon a time, in some out of the way corner of that universe which is dispersed into numberless twinkling solar systems, there was a star upon which clever beasts invented knowing. That was the most arrogant and mendacious minute of 'world history,' but nevertheless, it was only a minute. After nature had drawn a few breaths, the star cooled and congealed, and the clever beasts had to die. One might invent such a fable, and yet he still would not have adequately illustrated how miserable, how shadowy and transient, how aimless and arbitrary the human intellect looks within nature. There were eternities during which it did not exist. And when it is all over with the human intellect, nothing will have happened." - Friedrich Nietzsche

I started just a couple of days before you (Republic of Onomatopeony), it's an interesting mode of gamepley.. but very slow.  I find myself waiting on issues to appear in my inbox so that I can respond to them.

I have to say, I'm proud to be at the bottom of the BGL list for income inequality.. or to my way of looking at things, at the top of the list for income equality.

I'm not sure about the World Assembly.  I've joined, but I'm not sure that being a member fits with the character of the nation I've created.  A socialist democratic nation, rebuilding national identity following a revolution to dispose a despoctic capitalist dictator who wrecked the economy for the profit of international conglomerates.  The aim is to support the population with a strong social net with excellent healthcare provision, promote peaceful employment and discourage excessive rewards.  But everything is limited by the issues that arise - and until there's a critical mass of decisions made the game mechanic tends to encourage rapid swings between extremes in the early days.  World Assembly resolutions are binding, but are not always going to go the way I would want.

Made a state and added it to the League

I am the Protectorate of Nimmermehr and its Dominion, which I envisioned as a steampunk amalgam of Robespierre's Revolutionary France and Cromwell's England, where technology helps perpetuate the military controlled dictatorship. The General Staff and the Admiralty make all the important decisions, and though the Lord Protector disposed the erstwhile monarchy, he now rules with all the authority of a king.

I'm going to have to flesh out the state-philosophy, but so far our motto is "The mother of excess is not joy but joylessness"

Now doesn't that sound like a nice-place to live?

The Glorious Empire of Thiemaa is what happens when the Industrial Revolution is just that: A revolution led by Industrialists. Corporations have taken over the Empire, and everything is done for the sake of maximum profitability. Civil rights and political freedoms only appear to be prevalent - a gesture to appease the masses. After all: another uprising can only be bad for business.

I've made a simple world map for RP purposes. Feel free to claim a teritory for your own. If more land areas/countries are needed because more people join the game, I will add some later on. I am sure there are plenty of disputed border lines, clashes over territorial waters, etc. to make RPíng a little more interesting. Wink Map spaces go on a first come, first serve basis. So claim yours quick! Tongue

I'll take country No.7 Smiley

Also please register on the Absolution Tracker: http://tracker.conquestofabsolution.com <-- It'll let you see your nation in much more detail, which makes it easier to steer the country in the direction you want it to go. It also makes it possible to compare nations much more easily. On top of that, it has a Military Calculator to see just how much bite you'v got to back up your barking.. As it tracks your nation from the time you register onwards, you can also get all sorts of cool graphs to se ehow each aspect of your nation and economy is developing.

Plus, it lets you do cool stuff like this:

Hmm, I was on NS for maybe three years, until about may of 2010. I was in Absolution, but I got disenchanted with the whole thing. Recruiting does take its toll, and it stopped being fun. I guess I could consider moving...

From what I can see, a login once a day for 2-5 minutes is sufficient.  You can restrict issues to just week days if required and there's a holiday mode.  Once set-up is complete the basic user input is to deal with issues (1 or 2 per day depending on your chosen settings) and the game aggregates these to determine the effect they have on your countries statistics according to the game mechanics.

Much less commitment than BATracer, for example.
