I have been on new medication for my diabetes  for the last 10 days and it is really crashing my blood sugar levels, I have had to reduce my insulin by two thirds and have been off work today, so unlikely to be along, it isn't stable yet.

Good news is my eyesight is improving much quicker than expected and  I have started making again (but no power tools it isn't that good ... Yet) so I will have something to show when it settles down. Still not sure I will be doing Manchester MCM next week, I won't if my blood sugar doesn't stabilise.

If I do do MCM if Erica wants to send me a gallery of her Tea posters and blurb I can put those into a slide show with information on where to purchase them and have that running on my tablet during the show

Hi,

Somebody thoughtfully scheduled a band practice from 7-9 tonight so I won't be able to make it. Not sure who else might be there, our Canadian friend maybe? Facebook is a bit quiet so far...

Sorry, will definitely try for next week!

Well, given that the asylum is not a little over three weeks away, I think this is perhaps an appropriate time to discuss perhaps organising a gathering at the event, as we ended up doing last year.

Does anyone have particular preferences as to a day/time?

Peter> Just a reminder that we're meeting tomorrow at the Queen's Head, not Thursday, so we can all meet Fuchsia's hubby and be all casual about the pub being 500 years old and Robin Hood coming from just up the road and suchlike ;-)

Hope you - and anyone else reading this - can make it!

Husband and I are staying in Bradfield this week coming up from Peterborough, members of Cambridge Steampunk Society and the Clockwork Infirmary. Are there any decent alternative shops in Sheffield selling Steampunk clothing?

Would quite like an excuse to dress-up post Asylum so would we be welcome at your pub meet this Thursday evening?

Hi there we will be at the Old Queens head on Wednesday from about 18:00.

Steampunk shops, not so much I'm afraid, Sheffield retail offering is relatively poor BUT I would concentrate on the charity shops in Hallam, Heeley,  Crookes the more affluent areas of the City.

OK Peter, Steamfish, you might need to read this!

Apologies for the shortness of notice but we were considering holding the social at the Harlequin (Nursery St S3 8GG) in order to welcome Fuschia Sirois back to our shores and also allow people to sample their comprehensive gin and rum menus.

This would be at the slightly later time of 8ish onwards in recognition of the fact we will probably not be leaving until quite late and have to work the next day ;-)

Good Idea? Huge problem? Feel free to comment!

Awkward yes. A problem, not excessively. I know of the harlequin having worked just across the river, but for ginand an evening with my kind I'm willing to put up with the inconvenience.

Peter, don't know if you can make it tonight to hold the fort but Erica and I won't be able to make it I'm afraid. According to FB it is one of the few occasions that Debbie is able to make it... and then there are all the new people we've been getting lately so there should be a few at least...

HI Noobie Alert! Just in case I have posted this message in the wrong place

Have been getting more and more fascinated by Steampunk over the past year and have now started updating my wardrobe - It's great to find clothes that are actually exciting to wear again - even though I'm 50 now (am I too old for this?) . My problem is that while I love Steampunk none of my friends do. Which means I'm left having to go to events like Lincoln, Haworth etc on my own. OK up to a point as I'm a big boy now but it would be better if I could meet with like minded individuals. Any suggestion would be gratefully received.
