My mother had surgery (joint replacement reversal, or at least I think that's what it's called) this last week. She had to go to the emergency room saturday afternoon (yesterday, now) with high fever and apparenty an infection in the surgery site. She's being kept in ICU for observation, but the danger is over, we think. As far as I know I will be available to post, but if there are more complications I might have to do so more slowly than I would like, or maybe even put myself on hiatus (but probably not). Just a heads up, so to speak..

Gushing right along...
I just watched an episode of an anime in which one of the protagonists was named "Saber." That is not the origin of Al's light o' love's name.

"Sabre" (pronounced 'say-bruh') is the name of a girl I knew in High School (no joke); my first love, in fact. Maddeningly enough, I've recently found that she is alive and living in this same city (Houston) -- but I've so far been unable to get in touch with her for various reasons.

So, her name was/is on my mind. Who knows, maybe she'll find this RP
among the myriad others on the net Wink, and send me an email or something.

I'm stuck. I'm not sure how to respond to the last few posts in the game thread. I am also not sure where to take the game from here. I have a basic plot planned out but I am having trouble turning that plot into a story. So far I think I have not been writing very well.

It's a planning stage. If your character is more totalitarian, get the metaphorical stick out of your ass and beat us with it (Again, metaphorically speaking). If he's more democratic, consider our plans, and attempt to compromise. In example; say you don't like Amir's plan too much? Tell him (if you swing the first way) to shut the Hell up, plain and simple. Or (If you go the other), apologize and tell him he could do better at another post. Handle us one at a time, unless you find a way to hit two birds with one stone.

Give us basic directives and let us help you flesh things out.  Once you get in to a groove it becomes a lot simpler.

Sorry for my absence I've been without internet for a long while and while it's not sorted just yet I do have some access.

So I'll throw in with Eric and get an intro of some sort up and running.

Sorry, couldn't resist the reference to Porco Rosso...

I noticed that Donavan is from Brazil; could she have met up with Al before, when he was doing cargo/merc jobs in the goldfields there?

I love the Porco Rosso reference and I bet they have met before because Donavan likes to know as many people as she can for business and because she is rather outgoing.

I am still having trouble deciding where to go to from here. I think this RP is stalling (pun intended) because of my indecisiveness.

Well do you want us to go out and try to find where the big ship may be?

Just tell us that then. If the capstan is more firm tell us to stop jabbering and get to work if he is more friendly he could just tell us a deadline for gathering the data.

Donna's or Eric's would be the fastest aircraft; Al's Blue Duck has a lot of range, but is not quite as fast.

I would imagine Donna's plane is fast but handles like a big truck with a trailer so she cant do much with the speed other than go forward.

*reference to an oft-quoted conversation between pilots of a P-51 and a P-47 Thunderbolt, respectively, the Thunderbolt being the heavier and thus slower (though not by much) aircraft.
Although the Blue Duck could be said to function in an FB capacity, it is of course not really comparable to a Thunderbolt, but it is most likely nonetheless heavier than the Hawk, due to the permanent 'mini flying boat' airframe.

I'm just sitting here waiting for you guys; I've not much better to do most days.

I find I'll likely be especially active next week and the week after, what without school, and my girlfriend going about someplace else.

I'll most likely be away from the forum a while longer, so I'll sit this episode out. Really wanted to join in on this, but IRL stuff is still getting in the way.

Hope to be back soonish...

I'd say let Eric go and do the recon, and Al the rescue missions, and just comment along the way on what the Captain sees, the scenery, etc., and let the story develop. You'll probably think of something just about the time you think you're completely stymied (that's how it often happens with me, any way Cheesy). If not, ask for plot/development/complication suggestions from the rest of us. You're really doing pretty well for your first time.
