Some of these are wildly out-of-period, but they're some of the kinds of numbers I keep imagining Meri and/or the band doing at the Forbidden Palace club:
Pass that Peace Pipe
http://youtu.be/9_6CzxyWGj4

Boogie Woogie
http://youtu.be/mALbyq-ILzM

and of course
http://youtu.be/DpJoJv2-Nmg

and let's not forget
http://youtu.be/j9J5Zt2Obko

http://youtu.be/0NigiwMtWE0

Hmmm... Probably not this elaborate, but the song would fit...
http://youtu.be/N1H9eKWPGRo

http://youtu.be/IbKXuluS1HM

http://youtu.be/6BJ3-pkBlUQ

Probably not this version,
http://youtu.be/r4B90Knx57w

But this one would probably work
http://youtu.be/nzlfcQ6E_RE

Then maybe a humorous interlude while she's changing costumes

The page linked below lists dance etiquette instructions for the 1920s, but according to what I'm told, it was pretty much the same from the teens up through the late 50's, though at some point during WWII an unfortunate trend of aggression between the males involved came to be commonplace for a couple of years, or so an aged relative told me several years ago.

http://www.1920-30.com/dance/dance-etiquette.html

It should be noted that it does not say that an offer being made by the prospective, cutting-in partner does not obligate the lady in question (or her partner, by extension) to accept -- though to be fair it does not say that it does not do so, either.

Changed my post, sorry if it put people off. I'd hate for this to have died, but if it has, then I'll see you all around. I hope.

Planning to do a bit about Meri's sensei back in Japan; he's being held by the military to force his ninja sect's and the Youkai villagers' cooperation -- for a time. It's a bit of a potential powderkeg, not least because Meri is in fact not Japanese, but Manchurian from an earlier century and a different Spae/time continuum (before the Japanese invasion and occupation)

So, yes, there will be at least one post, if not several, as I intend to give Al and Sabre & Co. some time as well...

Please pardon the double post to start it off...

Thid is the song I was referring to; I've often thought it'd be epic in a big band, swing style...

Addendum:This is the kind of thing I listen to while writing battles and 'lonely-daring' segments.

http://youtu.be/jGwfa1CF5Yo

I mention this because this particular slideshow video contains a picture that in my opinion looks eerily like Merovingia after her destruction of the junk crew (except for the tat, of course). All I changed was to adjust the eye color and add the text...

Right down to the cherry blossoms...

So Donna was engaged to Louise and they were going to get married but he got killed before they could go down the isle.  She had not dated much before that because her father is catholic and he ran a lot of the local boys off.  So she has very little experience with men other then dancing. She tries to act more worldly but realy she is still sort of heart broken over him and lost so she pushes people away when they get too close.

La Belle Nicollette: Totally fictional movie title, so don't bother trying to look it up; even if such a title exists, it's probably not the same as what I was thinking of, which is basically a romantic comedy, a melding of the RL "madcap" genre of romance plays, novels and films from the 1920s through about the early 1950s, and the Japanese manga/anime comedy romances of today. Kind of like Mixing Danny Kaye's madcap WWII-era swing musical work with "Ah! My Goddess."

Yeah. Anyway...
-----
In other areas: I'll have Meri stop there where she is more or less, awaiting either the rest of the squadron or Capn Wallace's return, or both, or have her come back, under the assumption she's seen some of the strange goings-on at the far end of the atoll, and has come back to try and get in with the Steel Birds to help, with her knowledge of the Island (It would have to be somewhat sketchy, of course).

Sorry if Meri's speech and mannerisms seem affected. Also, I don't have permission to move Capn Wallace's or Mr. Fitziron's characters, so I could not do more than refer to them, whether directly or obliquely. I'm not sure how to proceed with the process of finding Eric, since if he were in the vicinity surely Meri's preternaturally-sharp senses would have picked him up.

I shall be away at the Palestine Old Time Music and Dulcimer Festival in Palestine, Texas this Saturday and Sunday. I will try to post via wireless tablet Saturday Night/Wee Hours Sunday if necessary, but if I'm too pooped I might have to forgo it.

I'm currently working on introducing the villain's or at least one of the villains' arrival at the Japanese airbase on teh southernmost Island of Namu Atoll (rounghly the same location as the modern-day airport, approximately forty years earlier than in RL), but i keep hitting the wrong key por something in Google hrome and deleting the whole thing just as I'm about to finish it (I've rewritten this post twice already).

Maddening...
