Author Topic: Adding some gears to my Ipad case  (Read 1375 times)

I am looking to add some gears to my leather Ipad case, but not sure how to do it. At first I thought of using screws but they would scratch the display and unsure as to how well glue would hold on leather. Any ideas or experience?

Possibly E-6000?

Personally my ideas and experience would say DON'T DO IT!  Cheesy

I'm kidding you do what you like. I was under the impression there were some rather funky gear themed cases available for iPad nowadays. That would probably be your safest scratch proof bet.

If you're set on real gears, there will be glue out there that will do it, but there is always a chance they will ping off I would imagine. The only other thing I can think of is possibly use small brass paper fasteners if the gears have a large enough hole in the centre, but you would probably want to glue some leather (or possibly thick tape or something) on the inside over the split shaft to prevent them from scratching.

Or of course you could try sewing them on, but that could also be tricky and possibly split the leather (as could fasteners without reinforcement).

E6000 should serve quite well. Be tasteful.
