Firing off artillery in a tunnel isn't the smartest thing to be doing; the walker's going to have a little accident in a bit...

I figure if they are smart they will try and stop the generator from coming back up any way they can including taking over Lou as quick as they can.

Minor last-minute post edit.

The plan is basically to gas the gray things using the ventilation shafts. We have to use the elevator to go down and bypass the air sensors on each of the four levels of the mine, so the vents keep drawing in air instead of sending it back out when the sensors detect the gas. (I figure the sensors would be purposely designed to be independent of each other rather than running on the same grid, so there would be less chance of a single failure shutting down the safety system. The bad thing about this for us is that each one needs to be shut down individually.)

I'll be away until afternoon today on a class trip. (sorry for the late notice, I actually just remembered this morning.)

CNC class midterms are tomorrow, so I'll be online some but might not be able to post much.

If others are good with it, I think I'll do a little retconning and make it only two sensors that we have to take out on the lower levels. Four was a bit excessive and complex...

Done with finals, er midterms!

Sorry, I had to shoehorn the doctor in there a little. If I've screwed up something then I'll fix the post when I get the chance. Basically, if you're wounded then feel free to write about him fixing you up as best he can on the go.

Also, sorry I've been silent for a good week now, I've just not found myself in a writing mood at all. It works out a bit, though, given that Roger and Jemima are more non-action people.

Oh and make sure the doctor doesn't die.

I figure Lou is responding more to the squid bites because she is smaller.  I think the venom can be drawn out with heat pressure and some small cuts in the skin.

Crater Rattler: a type of alien colubroid (snake-like creature) native to Io and the other Jovian moons. it is neither precisely reptilian nor precisely mammalian, but is somewhere between the two. It's "rattle" is actually a form of trumpeted hunting-call, generated by a formation of skin in the throat much like the human uvula, which it vibrates at high speed when exhaling forcefully. The crater rattler's fangs are numerous and needle-like, and all carry a strange venom that contains filaments that carry both caustic substances and reproductive DNA, and which develop into infant crater rattlers (if the bite wound is left untreated for about a day), which then feed on the host body in the same manner as infant wasps upon a host insect or animal. It will attack literally anything, from large and small native fauna, to humans, their animals, vehicles, footwear, etc.

The procreative venom's gestational process is always excruciatingly painful, and causes beautiful hallucinations to the victim -which has created an entire recreational-high industry that is the scourge as well as the pleasure of all who indulge in it, since the end result is always an excruciatingly painful and protracted death.

(Of course, the bites can be treated early by the same old-time methods as for terrestrial rattlesnake bites; meaning, of course, cutting the wound site and sucking out the venom. As with the moonsquids and Martian leeches, burning them will make them let go).

Just thought I'd add that in, there. Wink

Lou has rudimentary heat vision for the moment.  It is how the squids hunt pray and see who is already infected.

Bailey doesn't know it, but the blaster-burn has seared and thus cured the bite wound on his ankle. He'll be limping for a bit, though...
