Looking splendid, Herr Döktor.

What will our Tommies do with the martian when they discover it?

What will the tommies do is....offer it tea and biscuits ?

As an alien life-form it would be best to start off simply with an "English Breakfast" rather than the complexities of "Lapsang Souchong" or "Orange Pekoe" and of course Rich Tea biscuits are the perfect opener in Human to Alien relationship building although Custard Creams can be also be used in limited quantities.

Errm... Orange Pekoe is a grade of tea rather than a type/blend of tea. It's one step up from floor-sweepings.

Inviting the wee trinocular beastie to tiffin seems like a dashed decent thing to do, though.

Well, Captain B, it did occur to me as I was attaching various baggage and kit to the wee fellas webbing, that the one nearest the cave mouth has an outstretched hand, with nothing in it- so maybe he should have a lure on the end of s piece rope tied to a  stick, I wonder wht it should be...

Meanwhile, I realised that the howitzer didn't have any shells, coupled with doing some maintenance on the car, which left me with several snapped door trim clips, which, when cut down a bit and painted, look like this:

Had to perform a little surgery on the figure to get the pose just right:

And make a tiny slice of Battenberg, on a 'string' made from a guitar string:

With the whole looking like this:

It's all coming together now!

Would a Martian Battenburg have three sections and be coated in 'Mars-ipan'?

By the by.

You're barking mad.

Mmmmm Battenberg. You're making me feel peckish.

I can't say how it would work on martians but, as I suspect you know, your lure would catch me every time.

Most excellent!

Question though - shouldn't the fishing soldier be looking down instead of off into the red dusty yonder?

I was hoping to get away with him looking at the tip of his fishing rod, but he'd probably look better looking at the lure...

Join the queue. If anyone tried that method of catching a martian with me around they'd have to keep letting ME out of the trap.

That is very funny indeed, made me laugh at work even !

All we need now is the Bestiary listing the various susceptibilities of alien lifeforms:

Venusians - Any sort of Sponge
Plutonians - Arctic Roll
Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal - empty plate
(It can't see you if you can't see it, then giving it an empty plate means there is cake there ??)

etc etc

Yes, if the Martian doesn't have the Batteburg, he will.
