I'm reliably informed, by the BBC's Horizon, IIRC), that all the images in the 70's and 80's from Mars were false-coloured black and white, as they didn't have the bandwidth for colour at that time, and it's really bizarre to see that Mars actually looks a lot like the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan...

I'm fairly sure (at least one of) the Viking landers had at least one colour camera, as (IIRC) there was a colour-bar target mounted to one of the legs.

Well you have Gorn and done it!

I like the idea of a Martian Irregular hiding in the cave.
Dök surely knows his way around his Arena of expertise! I can't wait to see what sort of critter crawls out of that enemy mine… Roll Eyes

This was done for the benefit of the Martian Broadcast Engineers. It saves a lot of technical glitches during live link-ups to their video format.

Before we had this, all the aliens used to look Green, for Heaven's sake.

I have been painting the Martian terrain, and have found something 'living' in the cave under the tank's foot:

Three eerie, glowing eys, or possibly three LEDs in a holder, attached to a battery:

More soon!

Very nice idea! You might want to make them turn off and on once in a while, like they're blinking eyes...

Heads up IGetPwnedOften, we're talking LED's here! whahaha...  Cheesy

I already saw, don't worry. I believe I can hear an LED light up from 40 yards, even in a stiff breeze  Grin

I keep wondering if a Martian would blink its eyes one at a time, like the Springfield/Futurama fish, or all three in unison like we do?

"all three in unison like we do?" -> You've got three eyes? Freaky...  Grin

But seriously, I'd think first 2 at once and then the remaining one...

Not to be picky, but shouldn't there be one green eye, one blue eye and one red eye?

Only if Herr Dok is taking the Martians from  the 1953 film as his inspiration (which I guess he must be because it ties in nicely with 'three is the magic number' theme he has going on with the ' 'triple-toed tripod controlled by three operators') but as I recall the Martians  in Wells' WotW are described as "having two luminous, disc-like eyes"

This is one of the large, tripedal, predators of the Martian mountains, not the the high-caste scientist warriors of the movies...

Incidentally, this is Wells' own sketch of a Martian:

Or this.

And since the Martians all died of a bad cold, perhaps 'Catarrh Hero' is more appropriate.
