If Dok starts to claim that he is originally from Devizes, then we shall know that he is not boasting, merely setting himself up for inclusion in another Limerick.

You sir, are an artist! That looks amazing. The bad thing is, you make it look so easy that I end up trying to make things myself and then become horribly depressed when they turn out looking like "dog droppings". I tip my Hat to you good sir!

Hah same here! My brain is like "How awesome, that looks like fun!" then my hands go "yeah, that's not going to happen"

Great work Herr Döktor! Every little detail just adds more and more awesomness to it

I recognized the needle cover at once.
Regarding the third weapons pod, I agree with those who suggested some sort of grab or arm. An articulated arm with a claw on the end would be a useful weapon/tool, and it could look pretty cool too.

How about a claw/grab HOLDING a giant morningstar?

How about a serious arm, and a silly arm which can be swapped depending on audience.

I like the morningstar idea.

But may I suggest a weapon rack accessory for the tripod.

With morningstar, sword, cricket bat, monacle and parasol to choose from.

If this is meant to be a back engineered martian war machine, as suggested in the first post. I seem to recall from the book, that many of the weapons used by the martians, the black smoke generator for example, were in fact carried by the war machines as separate units, rater than being fitted equipment. So a carrying arm, and various "handheld" weapons would make a certain amount of sense.

In my head, the hand-held heat ray now looks like a steampunked version of this

We're having a heat-ray.
A possible heat-ray.
The temperature's rising,
it's hardly surprising.
Dok certainly can.
He's 'The Man!!'

(Oooooh! Glimpse into the way my brain works. The Marilyn Monroe connection with that song leads me to think that your machine should have a saucy painting of a Martian 'Glamour Gal' on the side.)

If you're gonna put another arm on, you'll need one of those old-fashioned bright red bugsprayers!

Slowly moving forward, only really added the ball joints to their sockets for the other two arms, and made what will be three hatches/observation ares for the driver, gunner and commander:

The hatches will eventually hinge upwards, so at least some of the interior will be viewable.

This shows where a person would be in relation to the hatch: there will be controls and what not, along with three or so portholes in each one.

I've also had to contract out the etching, as my saltwater system seems to only be reliable enough for single sided etching. Sad

I do love coming back to Brass Goggles after a break and finding a new Herr Doktor build thread to read from start to current post!

This is another lovely bit of model work, I like the proportions of the model and the detail is as usual - extreme.

As for the top of the main body - will you be considering some form of lifting hook connection so the beastie can be lowered from the mothership?

Or do they parachute in?

two outer legs as standing legs.
Move weight over center of gravity.
Move middle leg forward before it falls over.
Shift weight from outer legs to the single middle leg.
Move weight over center of gravity.
move outer legs before it falls over.
Repeat...

Or pick it up and have it walk like we used to do with action figures. #Hop hop hop hop#
