Extremely hazardous...have some?

« on: August 29, 2011, 01:34:30 am »

My avatar image reverted back to an older one. I've tried to correct it in the profile section but seem to not want to take it. Some help on what's going on or what I'm doing wrong. Thanks.

First thing to check - is your new image below the max size? I had problems until I'd reduced the file size sufficiently.

The size should have been okay since it was showing on my posts for two weeks straight. And then without warning it 'defaulted' back to what you see now.

As I've said to people before who are having this issue, could you post the image you're trying to upload here please?

Ah in which case it's the same as the last person who asked, I suggest you do a forced cache refresh Ctrl + F5.  You avatar did change, it's just that your computer saves time by storing some website images on your computer, so it kept using:

http://brassgoggles.co.uk/forum/user-avatars/avatar_17417.png

That image address will remian the same (apart from the image extension), when you change your avatar, unless your cache is refreshed (automatically by the PC, or manually by the user).

Thank you, Major. I'm sure the work pc will show the correct avatar and if not, will know how to remedy the situation.

Thank you Major. I was having the same problem and ctrl+F5 worked for me. I now have a picture of me (vainity rules) rather than Jón Sigurðsson. Though if there are complaints, I will change back!

Avatar test: Also having avatar problems

Edit: All fixed. My problem was that I changed my sig, and it removed my avatar. I tried to load the original picture I used, but it kept restting without the pic, and no info as to why. From the posts here, resizing worked.
