In my aimless rambles through Youtube I found this.

tinsmith.mov

It's the most beautiful thing I've seen for ages.
Not just the finished article, but the whole process and the motivation behind it.

Enjoy.

p.s. If anyone can hear the sound that the plate makes as it goes through the rollers without a tingle of delight, then they have no soul.

Many thanks for posting.

How utterly fantastic! I thought at the end of the clip how wonderful it would be to just sit and watch this man work, asking him all sorts of questions and learning even a tiny bit of what he knows. . .

Thanks so much for sharing!

Very nice. And yes, that is quite a sound the sheet metal makes going through the roller. Reminiscent of early Hawkwind, I thought.

You can remember early Hawkwind???

You must have the constitution of an Ox.
(Meant in the good way. Of course.)

Marvellous! Thanks for sharing. I couldn't agree more about the sound through the rollers, nicer than the sound from the player at the end in my opinion (I think the regulator might be in need of attention judging by the warbling effect).

Amazing. Like someone said earlier, I`d also love to just sit there and watch the man work and ask questions. I love his way of thinking.

That sound of the plate going through the rollers was also pretty amazing.

Not live, no. I was just starting to shave about the time Lemmy left, so I only know them from recordings.
I don't know about having the constitution of an ox. Brains, maybe.

Second time I've watched this video when stumbling upon this thread, still feel the same childish delight watching him make that as I did the first time Smiley

I can't believe I just watched him make that gramophone horn completely by hand. It's so perfectly symmetrical, absolutely astounding!

Yes thanks for sharing that, and some more sounds for the sample bank too, always a bonus.
