Here's my latest completion...former paintball gun.  It'll be on my table, in Boone, Iowa, at Steampunk Mid-West at the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad, along with lots of other builds (lamps, clocks, other weapons and misc.)

In the original story Moriarty had the air gun made for his henchman, but I know of at least one film in which Moriarty himself fired the weapon. There was also a reference in The Seven Percent Solution to Moriarty's men using air guns. The weapon type shall always be associated with Holmes' nemesis.

WIP on a multi-barrel blaster w/ grenade launcher.  Lots of painting to do and, of course, copper tubing, gauge (or two) and various other improvements.  Stay tuned!

These dueling pistols probably need just a LITTLE something more (copper tubing?  gauges?) but soon they'll be snug in their custom-fitted wooden box!

They look good to me Jim. Hopefully some of our less design challenged members can suggest something. All I can think of is perhaps adding greeblies. At the very least cut some shapes out of plastic and stick it on in various spots.

Hopefully Borderlands weapons fit in here, because I've been working on this 3D printed piece recently. Another day of detail painting, touch ups, then weathering, and it should be done.

And this just in, I found some old waterslide decal film tucked away in a drawer, and was able to print out and apply the logos. Now to let everything dry overnight, then get back to it.

Did you make a Torgue gun out of freaking wood? The palpable irony...

A couple of big "firsts" for me...first set of "dueling pistols" and first case (fitted, velvet lined!).

Nicely done Jim.

Nope. 3D printing. The person I'm painting it for made it.

And here's the finished product.

Home 3-D printers extrude a thin bead of melted plastic to draw thin layers that slowly build up to solid shapes. The result can sometimes have a wood-grained appearance.

Lovely work there Herbert.

Just think - when this thread started, 3D printers were more in the realms of the unobtainable.

A very quick pic (sorry 'bout the poor quality) of my latest project.
Finished in "pewter", "silver", "brass" and "gold".

Muzzle is currently unfinished as I'm still contemplating what to do with it.
I'm also wondering if there are any other enhancements I should do to the
rest of the gun.  Ideas?

Very nice.  Slight nitpick the Phillips screw looks wrong to me as the rest of the look is very streamline.

Thanks...I noticed the same thing, but not until I'd posted the photo.  It's a fake screw head.  I'll probably cover it with a (fake) rivet!

After watching a Youtube video on modding a Hammerstrike, I decided to give mine a makeover, or at least update it a little. Mainly it involved cleaning it up a little, redoing the blade mount, and rebinding the grip.

It's a great mod but the pirate head doesn't really seem like part of it.

Yeah, I'm having my doubts, even though I touched it up after seeing the photos to make the head a bit more symetrical.

Fortunately its acrylic paint, so it should scrape off easily.

Prop replica of the "V" Visitor pistol. Very un-steampunk, but an unusual architecture that might inspire someone.

Black Hole "over/under" Sentry Pistol. A similar design was used in an Enterprise episode.

Some great sci-fi props there sir. even if they aren't steamy.

Meanwhile, I'd like to introduce the Patterson Type 11 Electric Sniping Pistol. A favorite of merchant Captains and airship pirates alike. It features an optional telescopic sight, internal cooling, and a four shot explosive dart launcher.

Patterson. The first name in Electric-powered sidearms since 1867.

Yes, another modded Nerf gun.

And the 2013 edition.

This was one of the first gun mods I ever did. Recently I decided it needed an update, so I removed a few extraneous bits, repainted parts of it, replaced the barrel with  a $3 plastic recorder, and attached a $6 brass telescope from Amazon.

Unfortunately you can't see it, but I added some tiny crosshairs to the scope.

Hmmm. Looking at it, I think it could use a little detail on the gun attachment point. I'll probably add a couple of rivets. And I need to break out the silver Rub n' Buff  and add some wear to the sight.

But that can all wait til tomorrow. About another hours worth of work and it'll be perfect.

My sister sent me this link to a Steampunk gun show at the NRA in Virginia.
