The fairy rocket pack looks great.

In terms of the engineering and flying of the water jet pack:  Being tall is a benefit.  Your CG moves down relative to the nozzle position.  Small people and children will have a much less stable flight.

A short video of a quick test of the new smoke generator in my boy's rocket pack. I'm waiting for new battery to arrive and I need to finish off the new leather straps which I have made as the old nylon straps weren't very comfortable for him.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NF8B_eK7bP0

I'm hoping the new battery will boost the pressure in the system - because the smoke is getting pushed down it needs a lot more oomph to get it to blow out with any kind of vigour. I'm currently running two 40mm fans on a 9v battery but I have another 12v battery coming so we'll see how that goes.

If the fairy princess really does not like her rocket pack, maybe it is the colour black on the wings?  Does she like rainbows or pastel colours possibly?

No, it was the fact I changed the wings without her approval, after all, she's four and therefore knows best about everything...  Grin

My new 12v 3.8Ah battery arrived today, so I fitted it to my boy's pack. It now works almost too well  Grin

Very nice.  Looks perfect.  Just don't inhale.

Side note: remove the "s" from https to make http and the video will play inside of BG.

So it does... Nice tip, cheers  Grin

I've still got work to do on it - I had to replace some of the pipework inside because it gets so hot it melted part of it, all the plastic conduit has been replaced with copper. I also had to make a new hand control because the increased voltage caused some issues with the micro-switches I was using before.

It's getting there though. I'm toying with the idea of removing the redundant fan from the back of the case and replacing it with a speaker and mounting an MP3 player inside with some suitable sounds effects and possibly Elton John's "Rocket Man"  Grin

Pretty damn cool... and once again shows off Maets' point about nozzle placement.
As a pilot you wouldn't want to miscalculate your fuel burn, I would imagine that the glide vector of that thing would be similar to that of a falling house brick.

Thanks everyone. As is usual with my "make it up as you go" projects, which is basically everything I make, I only had a rough sketch, a pretty firm idea of the basic pack and some vague ideas about "valves and gauges" to be added when available. Now it's finished apart from a harness I really dont want to add anything to it. Except perhaps a Manufactures plate.

That is one gosh darned lovely piece of work.

Worthy of a manufacturers plate bearing your name.

Makers plate.
Definitely

On that subject. Here's an etch design that I hadn't got round to putting through the tank.

What was I thinking?
