My mom brought me a present today:  My grandfather's 1954 Bulova Model 17AH pocket watch.  It's a 17 jewel watch, no cover over the crystal, but cased in 10K gold.  All in all I guess the watch itself probably isn't all that special as they seem to be fairly common, but since it belonged to my grandfather, it has a special value to me.

That's a nice, reliable movement.  Here's a bit of detail on it:

The 17AH was Bulova's version of the ETA 953, which was used by a number of 2nd tier watch makers (I have the same movement sold by Benrus:  The plus side of that is the reasonable availability of replacement parts.
