When you can just mod your outfit instead? A pack of about 8 folks did this themed outfit today at dragon*con. Unfortunately I only have one crappy photo. I was a little hungover so my hands were shaky. This concept was brilliant and very popular with the photog at the steampunk photo meet up. I am sure there will be more coverage on the interwebs in a day or so. The gal on the left is Megan Maude McHugh who is an Atlanta based Lolita designer. I also think she recently joined the Outland Armor Crew. Not sure about the other gal or the other folks involved.

That's awesome! And looks a lot nicer than some of the modded nerfs that I've seen, though I've seen some pretty great ones. o.o

I love it. An excellent twist on the steampunk theme of retro styling with modern materials

Terribly clever, indeed! Wait until JingleJoe sees this *chuckle* He will have a field day with it, I'm sure. Brass Goggles, the lighterside of Jinglepunk?

Oh just to clarify, I personally had nothing to do with this except being acquaintances with the gal on the left. I just thought it was brilliant--and in light if some of the strong nerf feelings I've seen here--downright hilarious!

Had to look twice to 'get' it, bloody brilliant, not so much "thinking outside the box, Rockula, as thinking "there's a BOX?"

Wait until JingleJoe sees this *chuckle* He will have a field day with it, I'm sure. I can almost get behind this idea. It's like they know they can't do anything to the nerf gun to make it steampunk so they've altered thier own colour-combinations to match the gun ... thats an interesting ingenius idea, it very nearly gets past my inspection. Wait until JingleJoe sees this *chuckle* He will have a field day with it, I'm sure. Brass Goggles, the lighterside of Jinglepunk? Uninvent that before I have to make a time machine and go back in time and leave a monkey in your house.

I'm new... is there some Anti-nerf Mod movement in steampunk I wasn't aware of? I love the outfits!

The only Anti-Nerf Mod Movement I know of is the small involuntary 'jump' JingleJoe makes whenever he sees one!

I don't know the subjects views on nerf modding but there has been some anti crappy nerf modding sentiment expressed herein.

Hmmm .. I have a scary image of a yellow tailcoat and topper with orange waistcoat to go with the nerf.
Is there a Doktor in the house?

nah, not a moron... you just haven't posted any pictures of random gears glued to things, painted nerf guns, or made comments to the effect that steampunk is only about costuming... these subjects bring harsh comments from a normally mild mannered JingleJoe...
Stick around, you'll meet him eventually...

Then do it. Paint it up, take some pics, and have fun! Post your pics here in Tactile, and ignore anyone that may tell you that modding a Nerf gun isn't Steampunk. These ladies are awesome, just to be back OT. I am LOVING the orange and blue plaid. LOVE IT.
