Author Topic: Victorian Weekend at Erddig - Wrexham, Flintshire  (Read 500 times)

« on: July 28, 2010, 08:15:58 pm »

I found out today that there is a Victorian Weekend being held at the lovely National Trust estate of Erddig in Wrexham on 6th-8th August from 11am-5pm.

Is anyone considering attending? I went last year and had a wonderful time, there was many stalls as well as entertainments for adult and child alike. There is also a reasonably large contingent of people who go wearing historically inspired garb (though I didn't notice any Steampunks last year) which always makes a visit to a historic estate more enjoyable I think.

I am planning on attending with my son (assuming the weather is reasonable), though I am undecided as to go on the Saturday or Sunday.

It would be delightful to see some Steampunks there.

Sincerely,

Kiltar

It's a shame I won't be around at that time, I like the sound of "a ride on a penny farthing"!

I can come along if I can get there... Don't fancy cycling that distance both morning and evening, and trudging around the whole day as well

Saturday it is then Grum. Stu will be driving Sebastian and I in to arrive approx. 11am when the gates open. I do hope the weather is good for it, though even in the drizzle Erddig is gorgeous.

Looking forward to seeing you and your family Grum.

Sincerely,

DreamHazard - If you can get to Mold for 10am-ish I would be happy to offer a lift to Erddig and a lift back to Mold in the afternoon if you would like? Just let me know. Unfortunatly as my Husband (and the only driver) works night shift he can't travel further afield to pick you up but we do have a spare seat in the car from Mold to Erdding & back again.

Sincerely,

nope, unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make it. but it seems that things will continue to crop up like this for our little enclave, so I'll doubtless be at another meet in the near future Smiley

Botheration! I am unable to attend due to a university openday!  Angry
I've been to Erddig before, and it was lovely. It's a wonderful place for steampunks; great idea Kiltar! ^^

I hope that you all thoroughly enjoy yourselves!

Best Wishes,

I've been talking about going to Erddig for a couple of years now and this would be a great oppurtunity. But I'll have to miss it I'm afraid. I have booked to take my son climbing and have to pick my daughter up from guide camp. I wonder when I'll get my life back  Cheesy Cheesy

Hope you guys have lots of fun, and I look forward to seeing the photographs  Wink

Thanks to all who attended, it was a great day and the Steampunk gods blessed us with very nice weather. We were warmly welcomed by all the general public and the NAtional Trust staff, with many people stopping us for pictures and to ask questions about our outfits. It was great.

Please find below a few pictures that I took of the event :-

Superb.

Governess : The penny farthing didn't make an outing im afraid (I was a little disapointed) I would have loved to have a go...maybe it was a good thing that it didn't, as I probably would have broken something and Itoo am looking forward to Hanbury Mr Bellows Smiley

Tinker: It was a lovely day and Kate was on form (her first outing since her op.) It was a shame that you couldn't make it,  but hey there will be other times when we can get together. I will have to see if we can organise a larger steamy presence next year.

Grum.
