From the magnificent mind of Professor Shoggoth comes an ingenious solution for the old problem of how to light up your workplace at night! More later, gotta run... FOR SCIENCE!

How glorious!
Did you use a headlamp from a camping supply store and do science to it?

Basically, yes. It's the innards of two defective headlamps combined. One had a broken battery compartment, the other had busted capacitors. 4.5 volts both, with different battery sizes. The fact that I had three spare eyecups, brass tidbits and a brazing torch ready was just the final touch. The next step will be to mask the LEDs a bit.

Perhaps a very fine mesh screen as a lens filter might help 'diffuse' and 'disguise' the LED lamp assembly, one might even consider fitting a small hood to add 'period' detail.

I roughed up the surface with some 600 grit sand paper. I can check my wire mesh supplies for stuff. Little hoods for all three eyecups maybe, to add some shade for sunny days with clear lenses...

Just building more goggles. No trigoggles, just standard brass stuff. Expect pictures around the weekend.

Doing cruel science to innocent goggles, how evil of me!

These are great!

When wearing them (assuming you want to stand up and move around but also keep your hands free), where do you mount the battery pack?

Oh, you are beautiful! No really, you are, you're gorgeous! Space-age clockwork, I love it, I've got chills! Listen, I mean this from the heart - and by the way, count those - it would be a crime, it would be an act of vandalism to disassemble you.

But that won't stop me.

Looking fantastic old chap!
Have you thought about making a strap that goes over the top of one's head to hold the third eyecup in place better?

I thought about a strap like that. The battery pack has a clip, with enough cable to mount it on the belt. Managed to close it by changing over to smaller batteries. Runs on three AAA cells.
