New (old) hat... what do you think?

So, my hat that I bought came in, it is a vintage Stetson St. Regis homburg.

also the basic workings of a costume, not finished at all. I will add various dohickies to it, but it is supposed to maintain the aristocratic idea. No goggles will be added. Goggles are for mechanical work, I have people for that. [grins]

There may be some sunglasses added however, in the old, blue wireframe style.

Nice hat. If you are going to wear that outfit and mustache, perhaps you need to practice speaking in the manner of a Damon Runyon character. It would set the tone nicely, and might start a new fad, sort of the way Alfred Jarry's affectations of speech are supposed to have cased a number of young Parisians to adopt the "Parlerie Ubu".

for future note, post something interesting and/or witty and wait 16 hours before feeling bad. It is a web forum after all and not a local time zone chat.

People have to find it by title, and then be interested by the title to read it, and then have the time to read the post and think about a good response before posting back. That's provided they are not wrapped up in some other amazing topic on these always filled and gloriously fun boards, or elsewhere on this new fangled inter web bussiness.

Let me put it this way, eight years ago I wrote two collections of short stories for one of my favorite web sites, which allowed for total read numbers and feed back to be posted. In the first week a thousand people read my stories. In the eight years since they went up seven people have left me feedback, five neutral, one offering helpful advice and one saying good try bujt they didn't like it.

On this sight you are gare-un-teed a better response than that. just be patient.

a gripping title such as "Bah Homburg!" helps. A homburg should be unadorded, both my brown and black Homburgs work with a camel hair coat, very Godfather, or black alone with a black wool full length coat (check out George iV /Csar Nicholas for that look, a strong beard makes that image)

A charmingly coy gesture toward 'stachedom, there: I approve most highly. A remarkably cohesive and dapper outfit to be sure, you look as mobbed up and moneyed as anyone could possibly hope for. I congratulate you on the overall effect. Personally, I wouldn't change a thread of it.

When inspecting the workings of those underneath, sometimes proper eye protection is necessary. Hands-on business leadership can take you to the dredges of an organization's property quite frequently.

And it has become the archetypal mistake of bosses to refrain from personally attending to pressing matters.

If I was preparing that persona, there would be admittance for protection on special occasions (basically the opposite of having a tux on reserve ;]  ).

Wonders: Are you a goodie or a baddie? Chaotic Neutral?
My imagination easily sees you touring a steelworks to raise morale; or observing the test of a new gun prototype; or interrogating a tough cookie; or impatiently waiting on the deck of a trans-Atlantic steamer for your dinner date; or being forced to lend a hand fixing a greasy, rusty aeroplane engine to escape a deserted island; or taking a motorcycle out for a picnic, fiancé in the sidecar... when asked to realize scenarios where goggles are possibly recommended attire.

Chaotic Neutral would probably be the best alignment. Maybe a baddie, but the type of chap who would make the heel face turn at a key moment.

Definitely dapper...looks like $ for sure...a bit more 1920's Gatsby era than Victorian, but that's OK by me.
The pencil mustache really works...makes the look, in my opinion. You look like Tony Stark's rich uncle. 
As for the comments that mentioned "gangster"....no, I don't see that...too much class. You might hire gangsters for some bit of unpleasant business...but you would let a subordinate handle the details. All you would need to know would be how much it would cost, and you would leave instructions to send word to you at your club when the deed was done.

It looks early 20th century to me.  If you were interested in pushing the look back a little farther in time, a shirt with a wingtip collar might get you there without any other changes.

Not entirely sure about the ribbon width, but the hat is most likely from the mid 1950s.
