Great photos. Great photos indeed, both Major Twangy Rubber and Grumfoss! (now why didn't I think to take a photo of major Twangy's steam gun and steam iron..)

I must extend a huge thankyou to everyone who attended yesterday's birthday bash and together made it such a great day. It was great to see you all and made the day very special for Karen (Lady Elsie)
First of all a very special thankyou to Linzi (Governess) and Nigel (Himself) for their hard work as the true organisers of the day. it would not have happened without you guys and your help and support means an awful lot.
Thank you to Sunday Driver for the stunning live music.
Thank you too to Rachel "The musician who took the virginity of the Asylum" for entertaining so supremely as ever.
Of course who could miss Phil with his walking stick flute. Thank you Sir.
Our workshops: Graham (Dr Q) for inspiring and impressing us all, Jen (Steamblast M) who although ill still delivered an excellent presentation we would love to revisit at the Asylum and of course Norman (Lord Vonricken) for being the most polite but deadly watch thief ever seen. Heartfelt thanks to you all.
Simon (Doctor When), Helen (Nursey), John (Grumfoss) and Aly - our murderous suspects who entertained and amused under the watchful eyes of Nigel and Linzi - you have our gratitude.
Of course thanks too to everyone who contributed to the first Imperial Cake mountain. I am sure I am overlooking someone in my fatigue and apologise most sincerely for my weakness.
It goes without saying though that the day would not have been so memorable without the contributions of everyone. The steampunk community is a special one, full of the kindest of souls with the very best of humour. I never cease to be delighted by my interactions with fellow steampunks. I am proud to know you all and to enjoy your company.
Best wishes and my sincere thanks.
John

Glad it was such a wonderful event, so sorry that (despite my promise to Lady Elsie) I was unable to attend.
Keep coming with the photos, one and all, I'll just have to imagine I was there!

Returned home a couple of hours ago after one of the best weekends I can remember( well the memory is going now), I just want to say a a Huge Thank You to everyone who came to help me celebrate and for the cards, gifts and good wishes.
A special thank you to all the people who entertained us and brought cake. We managed to eat our way through Two large chocolate cakes, coffee choc bar cakes, 2 doz cup cakes, ginger bread men, a giant cup cake with a cherry on top, a swiss roll, two yorkire tea loaves, one large iced cake complete with a number on it and a ginger carrot cke which held a dark secret of murder!!
I hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as I did. yours Lady Elsie.

Having rushed out after posting the first half of my last post, I rather rudely left out expressing my thanks to everyone for making it such an enjoyable day! So, many thanks to everyone concerned, with special thanks to John and Karen for letting us all share the fun and Nigel and Linzi for making it happen Hip Hip, Hooray!

Echoing everyone's comments above. Rob and I had a great day (despite the minor quibble of lack of coffee at the bar! ) and thanks to all for putting it together. Happy Birthday to Lady Elsie for Tuesday! I have photos in my camera; once my antiquated PC manages to work sufficiently to upload them, i will post link in here.

Sadly we had to leave early, so we missed the end of the murder mystery. Can someone please tell me whodunnit and how it ended, so I can pass it on to the lady wife?

I can reveal in true Cluedo style that it was Lady Elsie in the kitchen with the cake slice (and the victim was actually another cake). I've also finally managed to upload my photographs to facebook (which took over an hour and ended up with me having to use a different computer. Grr). They are a little blurry, and certainly haven't done justice to the dancing! I have done some fairly random tagging, please feel free to tag yourself if you're untagged (or remove a tag if you want)

(and the victim was actually another cake). Gosh, that was unexpected. Thank you, Governess. I have passed the information on to the good lady, which caused a forehead-slap (hers, not mine) and an utterance of "doh".

After a little fiddling around with the contents of my dodgyphone, I present for your delectation the moment when TimeTinker showed us all what a master craftsman of the Theatrical Arts he really is: http://www.radiopoplar.org/nick/lebday/clip.mp4 (5Mb ish) x264 encoded with MP3 sound - if you can't play it immediately try the VLC player (free and highly recommended) Edit: go on then, Here's the full video (38Mb).
