Time for another challenge and once again with a theme. The challenge this time is to create a container of some kind. It could be a creation to hold your lovely coats, or perhaps an etheral charged device for containing ghosts. Whatever needs to be contained within your home can now have a steampunk fashioned device to keep it in! You shall have three weeks to complete the project, submissions are due March 6th by midnight your local time. Please post pictures and list the items you used to create it.

For the items I'm going about a different route. Rather then giving you a list of items to pick and choose from to create your masterpiece, I'm going to give you a small list of things you absolutely must incorporate somehow in the device. Everything on the list must be used! You may use any extra items you wish to make your project, there are no restrictions. Just the use of whats on the list must be in the creation.

Rules:
   - You do not have to be a gentleman to enter this challenge. Scallywags and Ladies allowed.
   - You must post in this thread that you are participating to be counted in the challenge.
   - Must only use the items on the list in your creation.
   - You may use what ever tools to build your creation that are at your disposal. Ie: hammer, glue, screwdriver, ect.
   - You will have three weeks to make your creation from the appointed start time.
   - Pictures of the finished creation must be posted on the finishing day by midnight your time.
   - You must list all items used in your creation when you post the finish picture.
   - Have Fun!!

Items:
 - 1 dinning set utensil, fork, knife or spoon.
 - Piece of jewelry (plastic counts).
 - An item from your bathroom.
 - Something from nature. ie, sticks, grass, a rock, ect.

If you have questions just ask!

i think i might have to cobble an entry together for this.  Quick question though, does it need to be a sealed container, or can it be something that holds an object but doesnt seal like a sheath or satchel?

It just has to hold it. So an open container also works. Like a plant pot "containing" a plant.

Please know that i like to participate.

One question: May one use only the parts listed and a container. Or do one make a container from the parts listed?  Huh

I'd wager that container could potentially be that "item from your bathroom."

May this container be like a purse or hard carring case?

Hmm, this is a weird coincident.  I've just started building a wardrobe out of wood (something from nature) for a friend (it'll contain coats)

Due to the unplanned nature of the building (come round for lunch...While you're here...) the whole thing has been built so far with a limited toolkit (saw, Stanley knife and cross head screw driver) and makeshift measuring devices - widths of wood were measured in link lengths from my necklace and marking points on longer sections of wood used lengths of toilet tissue.

Don't laugh - it works.  Measurements are just ways of comparing things so as long as you measure them in the same units it works (my personal yardstick just happens to be made of so many sheets of loo role Smiley ).

Do the items have to be incorporated into the final design, or can they be used as tools? (either way, not sure what I'll do about the kitchen utensil)

I didn't make it very clear on the instructions. You can use any items you need that are not on the list, and as many different things as you like. Basically use anything you want to make the container. The catch is that the items on the list must be used also.

Making more sense yet?

Yes you do! And it makes it no easier.  Sad
I need strict rules otherwise my build gets never finished due to all the possibilities and new ideas. (  Wink like all my other WIP's  Cheesy)

I have almost finished my build and I keep it as minimal as it gets I think. It needs some finishing and then i'll post the images.

you know this sounds like fun, I'll throw my hat into the ring.  Just want to make one thing clear, you say we have to use the tools at our disposal so that means no going out and buying a drill press or anything...LOL.  Yet does that mean I am allowed to use my dremel tool?

Does your kitchen or bathroom need containing? Or do you just wish to gather items from said bathroom/kitchen? hehe. I would count your bathroom as the place with the toilet... not that you would bathe in it   Roll Eyes

Sure, as long as you then use at least the items on the list somehow.

Dremel's count as tools, you can use it.

Okay i wasn't sure if you were suppose to use non-powered tools only

My entry:

“I was sent to a very desolate and hostile area of the kahndar-planet as a replacement of my predecessor who sadly did not survive this hostile area.
I did just barely.

It’s only dark for 2.5 earth hours but these minutes are so terrifying that you want a light with you no matter how small. Electric lights doesn’t work because of a very large amount of EM distortions in the atmosphere. The only light that you get there is from the sawmoth as I called it and they are very rare and very beautiful. The only known picture is the one below. Luckily for me I managed to caught one.

A sawmoth lives on Siliciumcarbide that is all around there and he scrapes it of with, as it turned out after research on a dead one I found, scraping jaws made of an unknown alloy containing at least Tungsten.
The light comes from a part of it’s abdomen where the SiC chitine layer is a bit clear and green. As he digests it produces a powerful glow.

I build me a device which can contain such a moth and was strong enough to resist his amazing jaws.

The base is from a tree and was taken on the expedition to see if it could be used as a buildingmaterial on the planet.
The jewel/crystal was found in a cave near my basecamp
The container is from a clock which gears were worn out due to SiC dust and it’s lid is a goggle sieve
The spoon is just a spoon obviously and provides some extra shine in one direction
The closing device was part of the projectile chamber from the weapon that turned out not to be working when my predecessor needed it most.
I found the remains of him battered to the cavewalls.”
