Can anybody recommend somewhere cheap and central to stay overnight? I lived in Birmingham and the one occasion we did stay in a hotel,it was a four star one out in the sticks! Anything cheap and cheerful (but not a hostel)..........

If the Acadamy is where I think it is (Horseflair / Bristol Street), These are within yards:

Ibis Holloway Circus, Irving Street
Etap hotel

(quick edit) I think there is a Ramada Jarvis round the corner from the Acadamy also

both of which would be around the £40-£50/night

Or there's the Radisson Blu Hotel across the road.. but if they have rooms they're ~£100+ per night Smiley

there's also the nite nite city hotel, which is quite nice (albeit very small rooms - think ship's cabin, which is what they were based on)

I did like the look of the nitenite hotel, but cheap is the order of the day we will be in the room for literally maybe 4 or 5 hours overnight!
