Hello everyone,

A bit too far for my carriage, but certainly next time, if it's a bit more northerly.

Cheers,
Herr Orgel Fuhrer.

Greeting all,
Sorry for my lack of presence of late. I have been  up the Limpo-po collecting butterfly samples..
I am still interested in this excursion and would like to add a further request if possible.. I have a little project that I am hopefully going to be able to tell you all about shortly but would like to know if there are any ladies who wouldbe interesting in modelling some new and exciting corsetry and items of steamy goodness.. I thought that it might be a fairly central place for people to get to.. I would need 3 or 4 models.. Dress sizes around 12/14 & 20/22.
Please do contact me if you are interested

So far, We have a potential turnout of around half a dozen, plus a couple of members of my historical enactment society.
I shall put a post on the UK Geographical board and see if there is any other interest.

If Rockula and Melissa Forethorpe are going along then The Countess and I will also be attending...and not just because we'll get a lift there. Wink

I may be getting a bit ahead of myself here, but A comment in the Air Kraken thread set me ti thinking.
The Dinosaur Adventure park in Norfolk may be a good pace for a gathering later in the year. If we get the Pith Helmets and the Sonic Blunderbusses sorted out, it would at least present an opportunity for some good photographs.

I have taken a look at the websites for the other Dinosaur parks in the UK, and to be honest, some of them are a bit pants. From the pictures, The Norfolk park looks like one of the better ones.

Any Thoughts?

Greetings all,

I'm currently based in the fine city of Norwich, studying for a Masters in Metaphysics no less, and I think the idea of a meet up is a jolly good one. Unfortunately my airship has been confined to drydock for the foreseeable future and I'm unable to get as far south as Essex, so I'm probably going to have to sit the first meet up out. However, should a trip to Norfolk's beloved dinosaur zoo be on the cards later, I'm sure I could find my way over!

As per the other thread....

Captain Dirigible, The Countess, Rockula and Melissa Forethorpe and Mr Addams? Possibly Rob & Aly (Vampyresheep)....

Are there no others who are planning to come along?

Come on Anglians! Where are you?

Greetings from somewhere between Peterborough and Huntingdon.

Given how rural it is round here, that's about as accurate as it's possible to get without getting technical :-)

Thank you for the post upon my thread, I regret that I will be unable to attend this gathering as I have cogling due around the 22nd so travel out of the local area is impossible. I will however pass on the message to my fellow Southend Steampunkers and I will endeavour to make the next gathering if it does occur

I have just spoken for to the Railway Museum, the admission fee is £4.00, with a reduction of 10% for groups of 10 or more.
We will probably be joined by a contingent from my Historical Enactment Society.
The Museum opens at 10, so I propose that we meet in the car park between 10:00 and 10:30.

The catering is limited, but they have made a note of our visit, so they will be sure that Tea and Cakes will be available. They have also said that if we request it, and give adequate notice, they will open the catering, and provide hot food, but of course they will need a commitment from us to dine while we are there.

I shall also post this message in the thread for this event.

Two Days to go.
So the plan is to gather in the car park at 10ish, with a view to mustering enough bodies for the group discount. and entering at around 10.30.
So how are we doing for bodies.
The Following have expressed the intention to attend.

Mr Addams party.
Mr Mr Addams and four Steampunk novices from the Colchester Historical Enactment Society.

Mr Angus A Fitziron

Capitan Dirigibles party
The Captain,
Countess,
Rockula
and Melissa Forethorpe

vampyresheep
Party of two?

Have I missed anyone out?

Mr Fitziron, Did you get any response to your suggestion of booking a table at the pub? I think that most of us will be picknicking.
What about having a Pot Luck Picknick?
Everyone brings something to the table, and we all have a wizard spread. (Dumbledore on toast?)

Hello everyone,

Has anybody got a date for the Dinosaur hunting expedition yet? The wife, coglings & I are all very excited about the prospect. Particularly as this will be our first public appearance. Indeed we are already designing some blasters & capturing equipment. We are also old hands, having been to the park nearly every year since our first cogling was old enough (he's 9 now), albeit in civvies.

Yours in anticipation,
Herr Orgel Fuhrer.

Very well, Since Mr Fuhrer has raised this subject, we may as well get the ball rolling
I was thinking that July or August would be a good time, as it would allow everyone time to get organized.
However I know that some of these days are already booked on the steampunk Calender, so it would probably be a good Idea to establish which days are out. I know that I have commitments for 25th of July, and the August bank holiday weekend, what days are definitely un-suitable for anyone else?
Once we have established a date, we can open a wider invite on the Geographical board.

As for the format of the event, I think that we should take advantage of the opportunities for a photo opportunity, I have a friend who is a photographer who would like to come along and take pictures.
If I contact the Dinosaur park, it may be possible to arrange a group discount in return for allowing them to use the visit as a press event, and get the local papers along. Any thoughts?

My only other consideration was, that we should organize a group picnic, and have everyone bring along a plate of food that can be added to the table as a grand spread. possibly someone could bring tablecloths and even candles.

Any thoughts on the above will be more than welcome.

Great news!

We shall peruse our calendar & get back to you forthwith. You have excellent ideas regarding the day. The park itself has plenty of space on the top lawn (near the car park & cafe) for picnicking. After you go through the forest on the hunting expedition, there is a smaller lawn at the bottom of the hill where one can purchase light refreshments & look at real animals inside a former victorian walled garden. There is also a residential sculptor who has amazing steel dinosaurs for sale. Plenty of climbing opportunities as well...

Should we start another thread?

Very excited,
Herr Orgel Fuhrer.

As I said, I think that it is best to hold off on the new thread until we have a date, otherwise the thread may get overtaken by when rather than what.
It is impossible to choose a day that will suit everyone, but at least we can endeavor to pick a day that will suit most of the East Anglia contingent, and wont clash with anything major on the Steampunk calendar.

The Steampunk Weekend at Haworth Village, [THIS THREAD] is the 2rd & 4th of July.
And Saturday July 31st is the Steampunk Summer Sizzler  in Kings Cross.
So that is possibly another two weekends out.

Greetings from Colchester, and thank you to Mr. Addams for your much appreciated indication!
I agree with Herr Orgel Fuhrer that it is one of the most opportune places to visit, and should be great fun for all involved! I especially like the idea of doing a photoshoot whilst you are there, I think I have seen something similar done before (I cannot remember exactly but remember seeing a picture of a gentleman and lady pointing some steam-orientated contraption at a dinosaur) and it looked quite fantastic.

Since Nobody has posted suggesting any good or bad days for the event, I propose that the Grand Dinosaur Hunt and Picnic be held on either the 7th or the 8th of August.
I know that no day will be perfect for everyone, but this seems as good as any.
If we are in agreement with this date, I shall post an announcement in the Geographical section.
