We're back for another year and will be offering up Steampunk programming once again.

Our traditional Steampunk Roundtable will return with reps from the various groups and organizations in the community.  We have also just confirmed Penny Dreadful Productions who will be hosting a panel about their new costume/fiction/media line Remnant.

We are also taking suggestions for panels, programmings and guests.  Just send them via this online form.

MomoCon returns for it's 8th year to the city of Atlanta.  While Georgia Tech wishes we could stay, our monumental growth has outpaced campus's ability to accommodate everyone of our attendees.  As such we have made the difficult decision to move venues and begin charging for admission.

However we are still commited to bringing you the best value we can!  For the first time since the first Momocon in 2005, the entire convention will be located in one building. The new space is over 60,000 sq. feet larger than the 2011 space, giving us room to grow.  That's nearly two football fields of additional space over this past year! No more walking outside, no more far off buildings or confusing maps. Food options exist both inside the hotel and within walking distance. And no more threats of rain hanging over the outdoor events.

For the first time ever MomoCon will welcome industry and voice actor guests. We can finally address requests to bring a variety of stars to MomoCon, and we hope you are as excited about it as we are!

We are adding more concerts, bigger panels (and panel rooms), better sound systems, late-night programming, and by popular demand a rave-style dance, all included with admission.

We are also adding a whole extra day! MomoCon is now a 3-day convention: Friday thru Sunday.

Don't worry, we have not forgoten our roots.  We will be giving away a large number of free badges throughout the upcoming months via social media and giveaways at our appearances at other conventions.  Be sure to check us out on our Forums, Twitter, Facebook, Livejournal and MomoCon.Com

More costumes in general...but heck, ice skating was enjoyed by many a Victorian lad and lady:

Cosplayers on Ice '11
Who: Open to all
What: Ice Skating & Photoshoot
When: Saturday, Dec. 3rd. 3pm - 6pm
Where: Centennial Olympic Park Ice Rink
Costs: Photoshoot, free. The park charges a rink fee and a small skate rental fee, if you wish to skate

MomoCon will be invading Centennial Park for a fifth year of fun on-and-off the ice! Door prizes will be given away, including free passes to MomoCon, courtesy of MomoCon on Tour. A photographer will also be onsite to capture the days events. Cosplayers are asked to leave all weapon-props at home for this very-public event.

AND for anyone planning to come to the con itself.

Black Friday Special:
Every MomoCon pre-registration completed and paid on Black Friday (Friday, November 25th, EST) will receive a special swag bag at the con, filled with figures, candy, plushes, DVDs and random assortments of cool stuff!

Hey artists, just a reminder that the deadline for submissions to our Open Call for Art is one month away: January 7th 2012.

Click here for all the details and technical specs.

You can enter multiple pieces for all the items we are looking for: badges, program book, t-shirt, and promo.  If we use your work, you will

For those coming in costume:

As first annouced on my twitter ( @momoconcostumes ) feed a couple days ago.  We have two Cosplay/Costume related contests this year!

Friday will host a Closet Costume Contest where the judging criteria is based on the overall poise and presence of the person in costume.  Entrants are expected to have the majority of costume made from purchases off the rack or slightly altered.  I.E the costumes that normally were not eligible to enter into competition for the past costume contests.

Saturday will host our traditional Craftsmanship Costume Contest where the judging criteria is solely upon the construction of the costume and props.

A costume entered into Friday's competition will be ineligible to compete for a prize in Saturday's; they can enter as a walk-on for the Cat Walk display portion.  I hope to have the finishing touches done to the entry form and full rules done by this weekend.  So stay tuned.
