Avondale Estates, Ga. –STEAMFest, Atlanta’s own theatrical-based, steampunk, alternate history and sci-fi convention returns to the Academy Theatre! STEAMFest is the only convention of its type where the focus is on theatre. Each STEAMFest culminates in the production of a new, steampunk inspired play.
This year will feature an extended dealer’s room, panel discussions, a costumes contest, musical performances and the world premiere of The Adventure of Capercaillie Bridge by Megan Mercer-Borne.
Also featured will be staged reading of other works, musical performances, panels discussions, a makers panel, vendor tables, food trucks and dj’s spinning until the wee hours of the morning.
Costumes are encouraged, but not required. Props are welcome and weapons must be peace-bonded. The Courtyard Marriott in Decatur is offering rooms at a discount as well as shuttle service to and from the hotel during the weekend. The Courtyard Marriott can be reached at (404) 371-0204.
