Steampunk inspiration hits in astounding ways, doesn't it?

I was toiling away in my underground secret lab, getting space ready for equipment, when I discovered some grey fuzz on the walls. Hoping it wasn't mold, I dug out my old microscope for some examination, and in the process re-discovered my collection of chemicals.

That's when it hit me- a secret underground lab needs chems as badly as electrical toys!

I took a trip to American Science and Surplus(greatest store ever), and found this bevy of bottles.

Then after some web searching, I entered The Esoteric Order of the Brazen Dawn for some alchymical texts. I am now in the process of aging some labels which have the modern chemical formula as well as alchymical names from the 1700s. here's the first one-

While at sciplus I also picked up this happy lil' sextant for 30usd.

And now comes the long process of transcribing things such as Ferrous ammonium sulfate back into Mohr's Salt and finding correct symbology for such. There is also the display rack to build, but that will be fairly simplistic in design.

Oh, I should probably try to identify that mold, too. Roll Eyes

The above link is what the E.O.B.D. provided me with. I also was able to find Jean Dubuis' complete alchemy course and a few other texts in various way on the internet. The real challenge is deciphering text from the 1700's, and also finding out that

a. Some of my chemical combinations weren't around back then, and

b. Some of them have names, but not readily found symbols.

as the week progresses, I will post more pics of my bottles with labels.

I have some others in .pdf I could email you if you pm me. I've no access to rapidshare-type tech, so I can only email them.

The project is on a short hiatus, as the floor has fallen off of my truck, and I am scrambling to put it back in again. (Very entertaining when it is 6 degrees F outside Sad
