Had a close call where I almost wasn't allowed to go. Mom was a little scared of me crossing the border alone, and wasn't going to let me go. Although I am 19 and could go if I really wanted to, I don't want to give my mom any more things to worry about. So I found a friend.

Anyone know who I could talk to about a booth? The person who agreed to go with me has a store on Etsy (http://www.etsy.com/shop/AtticRaiders), and does a lot of conventions, and would like to see about heading out to set up a booth. If anyone has any information for me to pass on, or maybe someone I could help connect her with, that'd be very much appreciated.

My mother doesn't have to know that I will be roaming the convention alone.  Wink

Ask Dianna Vick, or "Artvixen" she's the boss.
And a really cool lady to ask when you need to know something;
or you can go to the facebook group for Steam Con and their website;

So if I wanted to bring my photographic studio to the show, would that fall under the Vendor contact? or something else?

When I think of a vendor I think of someone with a table or two in the vendors area, but I would need a small room, like what the gaming was done in. I would really like to set up at the show, but need to find out if it is viable before going to the time and expensive of ordering all of the film and materials needed.

Cheers,

Dana

That is bad news.  I enjoyed their concert at Steamcon even with the audio problems at the beginning.  I hope the people at Steamcon will reconsider.

It looks like that's not the final list, so there may be more bands to come. Smiley

I couldn't make it last year, but I plan to attend this time!

If I may ask, what were the main or most popular events last year?

I'm looking and looking but I can't seem to find anything that says how much it would cost.
I'd love to go since my wife lived in Seattle until she was 12 and I'd like to see the place as well as the con.

Any ideas of ticket cost so I can figure out travel and who we'll be staying with?

I still have not heard anything back regarding setting up a period Victorian Portrait studio?  Is this going to be possible or not? I need to know so that I can prepare. I would need a room or similiar as a "booth" in the vendors area would not be enough space.

Well, I have learned this evening that my Victorian Portrait Service will not have an official place at SteamCon II. The group from last year will apparently be the only ones able to offer photography services at SCII.

A rather disappointing situation, unfortunately.

http://registration.steamcon.org/

Registration for Steamcon II is now open. You can now buy your full weekend membership. One day memberships will not be available on the website, and will only be available at the door if we do not sell out by that time. Memberships are will call style, so you will be picking them up at the pre-registration table at the con. Nothing will be mailed to you. You will need to present valid identification at the time of pick up, so please use your legal name to register. The prices below are good until July 1st, 2010.

The patron level membership is intended as a way for you to help Steamcon by providing much needed capital in the initial stages of our convention process. Your contribution is tax deductible, and will set you apart from the general membership. Rank has its privileges of course, so you will receive a special exclusive gift as our thanks, as well as an opportunity to purchase special event tickets early, early seating for those events, a special reception with our participants and any other perks we can bestow throughout the Steamcon II weekend.

Children under 6 - no charge
Full weekend teen (6-17) - $20.00
Full weekend adult (18 & up) - $35.00
Full weekend teen patron (6-17) - $220.00
Full weekend adult patron (18 & up) - $235.00

A little info on registration that might help:

Typically the best time to buy a membership for a convention is the Sunday of the convention before. Obviously this isn’t always possible, but if it is, it’s usually a bargain. So Steamcon II memberships were available at Steamcon I on Sunday for the lowest price. This is so that the convention will have a little money on hand to start working on next year’s convention. It’s also usually less than a one day membership will cost at the door, so you might as well make the small investment even if you think you might not be able to attend all three days. Memberships can often be rolled over to the next year or transferred to someone else if you find yourself unable to attend. On Sunday of Steamcon I, we weren’t sure what weekend we would be holding Steamcon II, so it was a bit of a gamble, but not a very substantial one. As the con dates get closer, membership costs for a convention usually go up a few times, leading to the at-the-door-price which is the most expensive, if the convention even has any left. More and more conventions have been reaching their maximum capacity during the pre-registration phase and are then unable to sell any memberships at the door at all. This is a good sign for the convention, but can lead to disappointed fans. Steamcon I was very nearly sold out before the convention, and was only able to sell a small number of memberships at the door. While we have twice as much space for Steamcon II, there is still a possibility of selling out again this year, so pre-registration is a very good choice if you want to be sure you can attend. I hope this information is helpful to you. Feel free to email any further questions to info@steamcon.org.

Anyone have any idea of which hotel everyone is mainly going to be staying at? The husband and I are getting ready  to make reservations, and were just curious. Where did everyone stay last year?

BTW, nice to see you again, Lady Corsair, at the Abney Park Circus at the End of the World concert. See you again in November. We need to meet up and have lunch or dinner.  Cheesy

DEFINITELY have to do some food-related thing.  I'll have to scope out the area near the hotels and see what's good. Wink  No weird bowl places this time!

Went back just now and PayPal was working fine.  *shrug*  Weird.
