Hello everyone, I expect a lot of you have seen this already, but as the Americans would say "it just blew me away"....
I love the noise it makes. I wish I had the time to make one. Cheers, Herr Orgel Fuhrer.

Messing around in SketchUp... straight axle, transverse leafspring and drum brakes, narrow body, single windshield, twin spare tires.. Despite its minuscule cabin width, it ain't a small vehicle though.. to get the proportions right, the wheelbase would probably be around 130 inch or so.. That's the same as an extended wheelbase Land Rover, or a Hummer H1.. If you want to build something steampunk thats vaguely usable on the road and still simple you cant do much better than the model T chassis, funnily enough its design is pretty close to how a coil sprung landrover id set up underneath. The wheels on that chassis are awesome.. look like wooden spokes??? If that's a vintage "T" then yes, they are. Side note: the "charcoal barbeque briquet" was invented by Henry Ford as a way to sell the sawdust from his coachworks.

Well done, Arceye, well done!
Makes me with I had more mechanical aptitude...
I cannot take the credit for the vehicle as it stands, it is a standard KMX Cobra, but I have been collecting bits and pieces to Steampunk the style (old car style mudguards and carriage lanterns) and motorise it.

This is one of those "What the future (today) did right" type of Steampunk-vehicles. I believe this is called the "Gossamer Albatross", though sometimes seems to be called the "Gossamer Condor", and it is a Human-Powered-Aircraft.... i.e. Bicycle plane. Yes, if I understand right, you pedal it, and it flies. It was flown across the English channel in 1980? Like, what cool! Supergran rode something like that...

Nothing a spanner or a trusty wrench can't fix! Just use it quickly and efficiently on your hunchbacked assistants head and it should be fixed soon!

Zeppelins! No particular one in particular (Hmm?) but I love them! Admittedly they are more dieselpunk than steam but nevertheless I love them, Nah, definately both steampunk and dieselpunk. They were just about Victorian, with a good many Edwardian ones so I reckon they fit in historically just as well. I agree anyway, they are marvellous vehicles. Can I add another airship, Henri Giffard's steam powered/coal gas filled airship of 1852? It could do an amazing 3.m.p.h. How can man survive such speeds? And of course, ironclads: -Matt xDDDD wheow so fast! perfect for the schooljourney xDDD i´m sorry for being late but i expected my zeppelin was faster xDD

There used to be a great thread here called "What would modern steampunks drive?" but, because it was in Off-topic, it was deleted. I'm gradually retrieving those vehicles and posting them here: http://www.johnnypayphone.net/blog.phpDark Roasted Blend has a lot of cool vehicles, not necessarily labeled as steampunk, but categorized into posts like "Jet engines on trucks": http://www.darkroastedblend.comI'm not going to repost all that stuff here, but I will say that La France did make some bad-ass lookin' vehicles. Here's a fire "appliance" I found in NZ with a massive heat-shield: P.S. A HUD could be easily projected on glass using the technique of "Pepper's Ghost"

Hello everyone, There are always a number of vehicles at the various steam rallies which we attend every year, which fall into this category. This one caught my eye at last year's Bedfordshire steam & country fair (our favourite event of the year, highly recommended; steam, early aircraft, stately home, birds of prey, crafts, fair, junk, displays, market etc, all in a beautiful parkland setting) Particularly as it has it's original paint. The driver had his costume spot on as well. http://www.flickr.com/photos/corrianderman/sets/72157622994396061/Cheers, Herr Orgel Fuhrer.

I always love the delivery trucks of the early 1900's, another great place to go is Shopy, which has some incredible hi-res photos of early vehicles, including ice-cream delivery trucks and other great cars.
