Wasn't quite sure where to put this but wanted to share. I'm on sky news in one of my steampunk outfits.

Victorian naval uniform indeed, reporters, pah!

Find the person who wrote that quote and pistol whip them. Nice picture though, yes.

Notice as the wild Steampunk surveys the landscape for a suitable mate. Next he will chase the female of the species using his dirigible and have his minions carry her away to his Victorian lair where he will  ply her with absinthe till she takes leave of her senses and submits to his will.
Tune in later as Jim attempts to bungee jump from a blimp high above the Andes.

Neos: It was indeed random reporter drivel, I was actually watching my wife doing a photoshoot for a professional photographer.

Muldan: *Laughs* Hit the nail on the head there I think.

Benthic: Thank you

Bizarro: *Laughs* Nicely put together

Miss Groves: Ah they are but simple journos they know not what they do *Smiles*. A for looking fine thank you, you are too kind.

Atterton: A chimney sweep? My god I would love to have a chimney sweep dressed like yours, the ones round our way are always covered in soot and carrying unsightly brushes. To have one wearing a uniform jacket, top hat, and not to mention steampunk styled accoutrements would be marvelous. Though more seriously I would love to know what you object to in regards to my costume.

I don´t object to anything. You just look rather like chimney sweeps did in my country a hundred years ago.

Here´s some from 1800s:

I´m from Denmark. I guess chimney sweeps look different in other places.

"Victorian naval uniform", "gothic"? I can see how they would have labeled your outfit as such, if they didn't know anything about steampunk. Though, I personally think that you look more pirate-y, than naval...

Is it safe to assume that they didn't really talk to you before they took your picture?

Atterton: I am just a little envious of your countries chimney sweeps. I want one of those jackets!

Klynt: Ray gun, Steve Irwin, oh dear, *Laughs*.

R. S. Fregdon: It would have be nice if they had actually asked me something about my clothes, but thats reporters for you

Calliope: Well the jacket is Victorian Scottish military. Though nothing wrong with a steampunk smuggler looking pirate-y Smiley . As you correctly guess I didn't even know they had taken my picture until one of my readers pointed it out to me

As long as we're bragging (we are, right?). These are actual German chimney-sweeps doing their jobs:

And here are some carpenters. Again, these are their actual work-clothes:

If you read this rather long and convoluted statement (and it is worthwhile, believe me) in the end you will find out (apart from the realization that I like overly long sentences but am severely limited by the maximal amount of characters allowed on signatures) that you have just lost
The Game.

As I understand, those aren´t just your average carpenters. Aren´t zimmermen specialized in restoring churches and other such old structures?

No, "Zimmermänner" are actually your run-of-the-mill carpenters (they do specialise in large structures, mostly roof timbers, though). But most of them only wear this outfit for  topping-out ceremonies or when they're "on the Walz" i.e. travelling on foot for three years and a day in order to learn from different masters (a mediæval tradition still upheld by some.
(I think the Guardian can explain the concept better than me.)
