Lady D: You´re welcome. Just be prepared for a serious case of depression during certain parts of the comics archive...

I've already finished it, and now am in the same plight as everyone else; waiting for the next comic, And I found it quite depressing in parts, but not in others! Methinks the best part is that it's a UK comic, not a US one- finally!

It is a very common tendency of webcomics to go into occasional slumps of misery and despair, it seems. Fortunately, Khaos isn't exactly filed under the 'wacky hijinks' section, and does it with believability...

I know we try and avoid politics on this forum, but did y'all hear about this bull shit? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_lesbian_prom_dateSince yesterday, I've been debating this issue on a VERY pull-no-punches forum with a generally conservative inclination. And ya know what? You put a bigot on the spot and they have a really hard time giving you a good reason to discriminate against homosexuals, and dear god is calling them out good sport!

Oh for fracks sake! Stuff like this really pisses me off to no end, and I would have go postal if something like that had happened to me. On a more positive note, more parents should be like the father of the young woman in the article: "" My daddy told me that I needed to show them that I'm still proud of who I am," McMillen told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "The fact that this will help people later on, that's what's helping me to go on."" - There´s some small hope for the future, after all...

Oh dear. That. Two of my friends had to listen to our civics teacher try and convince the class that the high school really was protecting the students. (Our civics teacher is a bit on the sexist/homophobic side...a bit.) I think it's just sad and immature. I try not to get too worked up about such things. So let's just say, it's Mississippi.

Yeah, because we all know that a teenage girl wearing a tuxedo is *soooooooo* dangerous. Some people...

I took my girlfriend to prom, and wore a tuxedo, at a Catholic school, and it was better received than that nonsense.

Strangely enough, at least down here, Catholic schools are often much cooler about stuff like this than public schools in strongly Baptist communities. As a for-instance, a friend of mine teaches science at a Catholic high school, and says he can be much more frank about evolution there than he could in a public school.
In any event, I've come around in my thinking on this: it isn't stupid, its brilliant. Whatever schoolboard head proposed this thing is now set up in gold come next election season: he got to take a Bold Stand on an issue (knowing full well it would get shot down and he wouldn't have to actually do anything) and he'll be shaking hands over that story for years. Scum bag. Then again, I think the girl's parents were trying to work the system/media the same way, for their own agenda.
Sucks for the kids, basically.

I was so in the closet that I can't imagine having even tried to get a date to my high-school prom. I went alone - and apart from graduation, that's the last time I saw most of those people.
I went to a "LGTB" Prom after high-school, which was much more memorable - somewhat due to someone's shed catching fire across the river and watching in wonder from the opera house balcony until the fire truck came. There I met some of my best friends to this day.
I am still in the closet but for those I trust. I don't feel as though I'm living a lie or anything bothersome - when I am that other person, it's like another life entirely, the life of someone who is always sunny and happy and who has no problems to speak of. I don't entirely mind escaping into that life, sometimes it is more pleasant than what I face at home.

Hay, some folks broadcast their sexuality and make a big show of it, and that's fine for them. Others keep it on a need-to-know basis, and that's fine, too. Then there are folks who advertise part of their sexuality, allow others to make conventional assumptions about them, and laugh to them selves about what the normal folks don't know while they have a good time. Not that I know anyone in that last category....

There are some things I wish I could tell people.
However, I'm not quite ready yet. I hope in a few years I can start anew somewhere else, where people's perceptions won't be tainted by the idea of the person they thought I was, the person I created to be inoffensive and employable !

I like schools of thought that deal with choices and don;t try to present anything as plain fact. I used to believe in evolution, but now I am not so sure. I certainly don't believe in Creationalism either though, I have my own theories. The same goes for anything in life. Sometimes the best thing to do is to hold ones hands up and say "you know what, we just aren't sure, but here are a selection of theories...."

Realised that the only other forum 'sides BG where I feel comfortable is the local LGBT forum.
I'm pulling your comment to a more appropriate thread for discussion... would you believe I never really felt comfortable in the GLBT sphere? It's not an issue in person (except for some rare instances, which I chalk up to some people just being dicks) but it has been online, and in some real-life situations back in school. Apparently, I was too straight. WTF?

I've had a few negative experiences myself but they were due to individuals ... well, not behaving. One time, this one man was flirting with me and got offended when I told him I wasn't attracted towards same gender, took me forever to get out of that tight spot. Like you said, some people are just <genitals>.

Not that new :-)
I spent a *long* time so far in the closet I could see Narnia, but I'm happier with myself now.
(I've been here before, as well. I'm planning on trying not to flounce off in a huff this time :-)

I hope the Queen of Narnia treated you well! (I apologise if this comes across as rude, it is intended merely as entertainment xD) Unfortunately, it was mostly just wandering around naked and getting frostbite on my bum ! When I was younger, I was a bully at times and fairly homophobic. I don't really know how I managed that, myself. I wasn't the worst example, thankfully, and I was mostly just self-loathing instead of actively loathing others. Thankfully, I managed to snap out of it over the course of high-school - which I mostly blame on being given The Oxford Essential Guide to Writing for Christmas.

I am married to a male, but I have fated more women than men.
Sounds like my wife. Hello all. I discovered this interesting thread far too late. I am straight myself, although a few, MechanicalMouse on this forum, for example, have judged me as bi or gay when first meeting me. I guess I'm just weird. As I mentioned, my wife is bi, I have a strong suspicion my father is, too. So I thought I take a look inside and infrequently add to the discussion.
