I've seen fantasy creatures in far-future settings, as well as their typical fantasy settings, so why not Steampunk? In fact it could probably be seen as fantasy with more technological advancements thrown in. So why not fantasy creatures? I mean there are all sorts of way to incorporate them, alternate dimensions, mad scientists' experiments, the results of a Time Paradox and whottknott. So of course, plenty of scope

Seeing as steampunk exploration is based off of real-life exploration in the Victorian/Edwardian era, it can be safe to say that mythical creatures should definitely be included. No, I'm not insinuating that these creatures actually exist (even though I believe so), but there were certainly documents of sea serpents, krakens, and other various, fantastical beasts that early explorers thought they came up. Of course we all know now that it was probably all that opium going to their heads, but as steampunk is science fiction and fantasy in itself, I see no reason why mythical beings and beasts shouldn't be included. The Dragonology series, I might add, is very steampunk in manner and design.  |

What sort of fantasy creature is your friend's persona? What's her role in the hunter group? to be honest, I'm not sure as she and me other friends that are part of that group are from texas and I just found out about that persona at this year's dragoncon and didn't have a chance to pursue more knowledge of it as I was vending like usual. |

I don´t see why you can´t have some rather fantastical creatures in a steampunk setting. You can decide wether they should be magical or naturalistic in origin. You should remember that victorian society might function differently, depending on what creatures exist. For example bringing in zombies might change a lot, regarding religion and such.
