I`ve just paid a visit to 4chan to request of the wallpaper board something with gears and airships and whatnot for the layout of my space;and I happened upon a small thread of steam and semi-steam bits of loveliness.
I thought perhaps  we might post up what we have,no?

It appears that Springheel Jack's link has become corrupted (the 'target' attribute is failing); I offer a correction.

FYI that's from Jasper Morello (I prefer the 2nd one)

ATM I've got the "Whither thou goest, Ophelia?" pic as my desktop.

That's a nice one you got there Mr Fats, Where did you get it?

Yes, as Mr. Folkers points out, that is a heavily edited Perdido Street Station (I did the editing)

Ive only just started to spruce up the computer and this is my first beginning.

Its in the style of a gentlemen's study.   Ive used a number of my own graphics and pictures of my Victorian SciFi models in it.  I also left a couple of photos in washed out colout like period hand coloured pictures

Suggestions for improvement are always welcomed!

Very nice, sir! Might I propose a few sherry stains however, and perhaps a cigarillo-burn.

We are gentlemen and ladies of the world, after all, what-ho?

Thank you Sir, but Sherry is an apertiff - surely such cerebral ruminations would be conducted over a cognac or a tumbler of single malt!

I had that one for a while, but then one of the contest entries had the crystal palace, so I immedeately switched to that. Now mine is a crude little thing with pictures of Charles Babbage, Ada Lovelace, and a difference engine.

My desktop is taken from the re-issued cover of the first of a series of comic anthologies which go by the name Flight. Not all the stories are steampunk by any means, but I couldn't recommend the series highly enough.

Why are the factories at the bottom? That just sends smoke up to the homes.

You can find it here. At the same source you can also get hold of another one (see below) which seems to feature propeller-driven flying whale factories. Which is always a bonus.

Oh cool. I hadn't seen those redone "Flight" pieces. That first one looks just like the Slag Ravine from Laputa.

I am quite smitten by this piece. Though it isn't really the right size for a desktop wallpaper.
