IMHO the last verse, which Schultz skipped, is at least as important to the spirit of the poem as the rest of it is.

He did, at least when I watched the clip. Instead of

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Fields.


Linus simply repeats the first two lines,

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row.


Rather disappointing, really.

That's as bad as the practice (which I can't stand) of editing Christmas carols to take out all the bits that aren't happy. Seriously, how often do you hear "What Child Is This" without substitution of the first chorus for all the others, especially "Nails, spear"?  Angry
