Must confess that I was somewhat put off by the dub - despite a strong voice cast it just didn't sit right with me... but then I almost always watch my anime subbed. I'll give Steamboy another go with the subs instead.
I dunno...I think the English dub (even with it's generic 'Northern accents'..let's face it..they're all over the place) makes it more palatable (IMHO) than if all these Victorian characters were spouting Japanese. Normally I agree that the sub-titled version of foreign films is far superior to a dubbed version but I would find the Japanese dialogue very distracting given it's 19th century English setting.

COurse, it would make much more sense if they were from Birmingham...
