If I could get some feedback on my stuff (I'm celticroseart) I would appreciate it! I have only sold supplies so far, what is wrong with my collars? Are they too expensive? Not fancy enough? Let me know! Cheesy

For me the reason probably will be that i don't intend on wearing a collar ever, i think. Wink
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Pieces of clothing and jewelry are very individual.

It striked me that the top etsy sellers are mostly all supplies sellers:
http://www.etsywiki.com/index.php?title=Top_Sellers

Maybe because many people want to make things for themselves and therefor need parts they don't want or can make themselves.

I don't think they're too expensive at all, but that background is really terrible, and might be turning people off.  You need a white or, better, light grey background.  That will allow the true colors to show.  The orange and red combo just isn't flattering to your lovely pieces. Smiley

Could it be that the pictures were made on a white piece of paper without flash?

It could help to use a necklace displaying torso. Those are often a darker colour, but there are also some light brown, skin colour. With this it shows the people how it would fit on them and how big it is.

If you are not using flash because of the paleness then you can use a two strong lights under 45 degrees from the subject.

                                            Object
                                            ^  ^  ^

                                          /     |     \
                                        Light  |    Light
                                               You

Remember that lightbulbs (i believe they called 'incandescent' lamps??) are always giving of orange to yellow-ish light even if the appears to be white. That's from the glowing thread within. And is stronger visible on a picture.
Better is to use halogen lamps. A car headlight is perfect for this. Portable and easy to put on a stand for flexibility. (And runs on 12 V so it's safe too).
There are also mat white filter paperfilters that are frosted. It helps to break up the light into a more diffuse shine. That's handy if you got highlights in your work and softens the sometimes harsh shadows. (For shiny objects)
These filters should be placed in front of the lamp with a gap to let the lamp get rid of it's heat, and not in front of your lens (unless you want a very foggy picture)
http://www.rosco.com/UK/technotes/filters/lee_equiv.asp (no 253 to 258)

Anyway it should be a lot less if you put the right lamps under the right corner.
I hope i don't offend you by lecturing you. I hope my advise will help you.

Your pictures don't 'suck'.

The collars look good and seem to be priced fairly.
The pictures are ok but I would use a white background for the collars. I think the pictures would pop more. I would also recomend using more pictures. At least three or four pictures of every item no matter how simple. I've been selling on eBay for over 10 years and also run the eBay dept for a car dealership. I can tell you that pictures are what sell your item when selling online.

Finally, you should link your Etsy site in your signature. That way people who know you here can quickly and easily visit your site. In fact, you should link to your site in everything you do online that's related to your work. Etsy will drive some traffic to your store but you can also promote your store to the exact right people with simple links. Think of it as more of a polite invitatinon than an advertisement.
In the short time I've been here I've made at least one Etsy sale ($150.00) from my link on this site. Who knows how many of my other sales have come from here.

My girlfriend and I opened up an Etsy shop last week. So far it's corsets and bags, but we are hoping to expand to dresses, hats, coats and other accoutrements. Our first few bag orders have been from steampunks and LARPers, which is awesome.
