I just got back from a little antiquing. I didn't go looking for anything in particular; but couldn't leave without these two pieces.

finds
gauge close up
lamp close up

Got them both for AU$10 (US$8.50, GBP$4.25)  Smiley

I've no idea what I'll be using the gauge thing for I'll probably separate the gauge from the rest of it.
As far as the lamp goes I'll probably make it part of the portable science kit I'm working on

Arg--no!!!  Don't take apart that wonderful contraption!  I would happily offer you enough to buy a gauge or two from eBay in exchange for that...

Where in Australia do you live?  I'm a Brisbanite.

I'm a New South Welshmen.

Central Coast (about an hour north of Sydney)

There's a Terror Australis thread in geographical
Sub-Equatorial Penal Colony Australia

IIRC there are a couple of other Brisbanites here.

Akk, I must find one of those. It would be perfect for my Steam Punk Ghostbusters costume. Would make a wonderful Steam version of a PKE meter.

*Gasps* That looks like an old-fashioned voltage probe. Restore the handle, but don't pull it apart: that is awesome!

Also, hi Central-Coaster! I'm a short ferry ride (but a long drive!) south of you.

Edit: Where do you go antiquing? Sydney's all too expensive, and Blackheath and Mount Victoria -- while marvellous for books -- are full of tacky rubbish.
