Victoria the Mistress and I have jointly taken up the Pointy Stick of Organisation and decided to put together some south coast SP meets in the Bournemouth area. The first of these will be: Sunday 13th December at the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum in Bournemouth, for their Victorian Christmas event: http://www.russell-cotes.bournemouth.gov.uk/default.aspThe intention is to meet up at around 12pm to give us time to see the museum, have a break in the cafe and (weather permitting) take some photos outside. Please either respond to this thread or PM me directly if you are interested in joining us. Engineer

I would love to come down and visit with you but I will be attending another event , that very same weekend. I hope that you have a wonderful day and post lots of picture for the rest of us to share. I will endeavour to do the same on my excursion.

It now looks like we may have 12 or 13 of us at the meet if everyome can make it. The weather outlook for Sunday is dry and sunny (but cold), so we should hopefully have a nice day for photos in the grounds

The first steampunk meet in the Bournemouth area was an unqualified success. 12 steampunks (including several not on this forum), plus a couple of Victoria the Mistress' friends who haven't quite realised they are stemapunks, met at the Russell-Cotes museum and art gallery on a dry an mild (for December) day. This should be the first of many such meetings and will hopefully serve to help promote a steampunk scene in this area. Unfortunately we couldn't take photos in the museum, but as the weather was kind to us we were able to take some outside:

I just wanted to add my appreciation to Engineer and all the other attendees for a lovely day yesterday - we sang carols, drank tea, admired fabulous pre-Raphaelite art and were made to feel so welcome by the Museum staff! I must encourage anyone who comes to Bournemouth to pop in and visit, and there is plenty of opportunity to shop as well as the gift shop has much Victorian loveliness!!

Glad it was successful- I was either going to Bournemouth or Oxford for the meet there on sunday- but lingering influenza robbed me of both! I'll try to make the next South Coast meet up!

You will, of course, be most welcome to join us. We are hoping to use the museum for regular meets next year, as well as going for excursions elsewhere in our general area. Watch this space.

You all look fantastic in the photos.
The Steampunk gods seem to have granted you excellent weather as well.

Indeed - as fine a bunch of Steampunk as I have ever seen. Congratulations to you all. We would be more than happy to publish your meeting dates and times on the VSS website calendar if you would like.

I would just like to add my thanks to, and praise for, the organisers of this most enjoyable meeting. Myself and the Empress thoroughly enjoyed making the acquaintance of the other attendees, and we look forward to further gatherings in the future.
